Sherry FM
R.Wan Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Pourquoi
(Merci à botosl pour cettes paroles)
In R.Wan's song Sherry FM, the lyrics describe various aspects of life that are frustrating or difficult to deal with. The first half of the lyrics focus on food, with references to bread that is too soft, noodles that stick to the bottom of the pot, and crackers that crumble and can't be buttered. The song then shifts focus to clothing, with a line about turtlenecks being itchy on the neck. Next, the lyrics touch on the discomfort caused by cutting onions and the complexity of politics.
The overall message of the song seems to be that life is often unsatisfying or difficult, and that there are many things that we wish we could change but can't. The final line, "Mais on a pas le droit/Pourquoi" ("But we don't have the right/Why"), suggests that there are forces beyond our control that keep us from making the changes we want to see.
Interestingly, the lyrics to Sherry FM were originally written by a French musician named Botos, who posted them online in 2006 as a kind of humorous commentary on modern life. R.Wan, who is the lead singer of the French band Java, stumbled across the lyrics and decided to put them to music. The resulting song became one of Java's biggest hits, and has since been covered by several other artists.
