R. Cooney Lyrics

Yeah
She said she rather be high
So it's up, up and away we go
To somewhere that they don't know
And you know feelings slow me down
And it ain't right, but it's right now
You know feelings slow me down
And it ain't right

Party everyday, why we waitin' on the weekend?
'Cause she know that I know what she came here to do
We'll be diving off the deep end, woah
'Cause I'll be in my zone, ooh
Pressin' up like defense, woo
And now we on a roll, everythin' is slow-mo
No discussions, skip the pretense (let's not make it complicated)

You know when we get together we probably won't act right
You've been talkin' shit forever, but tonight's the last time
Bottle on the table, like the one we finished last night
Hold up on the breaks and hit the gas

She said she'd rather be high
So it's up, up and away we go
To somewhere that they don't know
And you know feelings slow me down
And it ain't right, but it's right now
It ain't right, but it's right now
We ain't right, we ain't right, oh
You know feelings slow me down
And it ain't right, but it's right

Girl you always firing off on me, that's target practice
And I can't stand it when you mad, but it looks so attractive
And I got somethin' in my pocket that makes both of us happy
And we'll be geekin' for some hours off that dope and candy
Said we be freakin' for some minutes, but it feels like hours
Said we would be stuck up off that OG, but it smells like sour
And I can't stand you when I'm sober, would you still come over?
You drive me crazy, you're my chauffeur 'til the Uber show up

She wanna get faded, so we gonna let the night turn grey
And we gonna let the wraps burn slow
We gonna let the party turn way up, ooh

You know when we get together we probably won't act right
You've been talkin' shit forever, but tonight's the last time
Bottle on the table, like the one we finished last night
Hold up on the breaks and hit the gas

She said she'd rather be high
So it's up, up and away we go
To somewhere that they don't know
You know feelings slow me down
And it ain't right, but it's right now
It ain't right, but it's right now
We ain't right, we ain't right, oh
You know feelings slow me down
And it ain't right, but it's right

One bottle, two people and no chasers
Me and lil' mama, solve our problems
By gettin' wasted off the alcohol, marijuana and etcetera
My boo thang, always and forever, yeah
We problematic, so it has it
But who ain't got problems?
We all have 'em, yeah
But she still a baddie, I'm still her daddy

And we're higher, than all y'all
We still at it, we still at it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of R. Cooney's "Now" describe a tumultuous and wild relationship between two people who prefer to escape their problems by indulging in drugs and partying. The main themes are the willingness to leave their problems behind and live in the moment. The female protagonist of the song demands to get high to escape her worries, and the male protagonist supports her, even though he knows that their act is wrong. The mood of the song is upbeat and bouncy, perfectly capturing the party atmosphere. It also highlights the self-destructive behavior of the couple, as well as their inability to confront their problems in a responsible way.

The opening verse sets the tone of the song by expressing the desire to get high and escape. The chorus repeats the same idea, emphasizing that the couple wants to forget their problems by going "up and away" and living in the moment. The second verse suggests that the couple is not worried about the consequences of their action, and they are not waiting for the weekend to party. They know what they want, and they are willing to dive into the deep end without any qualms. The rest of the verses expand on this theme, emphasizing how the couple's relationship is volatile and self-destructive, but it does not matter as long as they can escape from their problems.

Overall, "Now" is a song that captures the momentary thrill of escapism. It paints a picture of two people caught up in a world of partying and drugs, ignoring the consequences of their actions. The song highlights the importance of acknowledging one's problems and solving them in a responsible manner, instead of indulging in self-destructive behavior.

I want to address some of the criticisms of this video that some of my viewers have voiced in the comments about my stance on Eugenia, her mother and her pro-ana content:

1) The Pro-Ana community
I am aware that images of people with anorexia can be used in the pro-ana community to inspire others to do the same. I did not emphasise enough in the video that Eugenia’s pictures and videos can be harmful within this community, in hindsight I brushed over the pro-ana community and Eugenia’s part in it in this video and for that I apologise.

2) Eugenia’s Mother
I did do my research into her mother’s behaviour and actually recorded a chapter about her that I ended up taking out of the video in the edit. This was because a lot of the supposed ‘evidence’ against her mother originates from people on reddit or YouTube starting theories about her and I could not find enough solid and proven evidence of her toxic behaviour. A lot of it is seems to me to be hearsay and/or open to interpretation therefore I could not in good conscience start blaming her mother or make this video about her.

3) Analogies
A few of you have pointed out that my analogies using social anxiety and OCD to talk about anorexia are not accurate. I take full responsibility for this, I was trying to make a point about how Eugenia’s mental health issue is so visible compared to others and that people with other disorders would not be treated in the same way. I apologise for using misguided analogies, I should not have compared the two illnesses given their obvious differences.

Overall, I know a lot of you are surprised to see me ‘defending’ Eugenia as a creator. I simply wanted to offer a different perspective and try to come from a place of compassion for her. If you want to watch a video with the view that she is an objectively terrible person there are plenty out there. Thank you for voicing your concerns, it’s given me a lot to think about and it's nice to know I’m not just talking into an echo chamber here !

I've been following Eugenia Cooney's circle and her trajectory since 2011. I haven't watched her content directly, but I've kept up and been aware this whole time. That said, as someone who was witnessing this in real time when this happened, Jaclyn did what she could when she had no idea what to do in general. It's incredibly disingenuous of Eugenia to misrepresent what her friends did for her. Someone who is healing and taking care of themselves after something like that would undoubtedly be grateful and understanding once they're on the other side.
Jacelyn and Eugenia had been friends for years and hung out in person quite regularly...so imagine that you often see this friend and each time you see them they look frailer and frailer each time you hang out. That would be terrifying. If you cared about them, you would try your best to figure out how to help them. Eugenia constantly denies and denies in videos and on stream she has anything wrong with her, could you imagine what she was like in person? Jaclyn had said at the time that she did in fact bring things up with Eugenia over the course of their friendship as cautiously and nonchalantly as she could because Jaclyn said she didn't want to scare her off with her concerns, so I fully understand why the best course of action that Jaclyn thought she could make was tricking her into a 5150. Jaclyn was, from what I can tell, Eugenia's closest friend in probably her entire life, and I can empathize with the feeling of betrayal that she must inevitably feel at this point, especially at the time when it was raw emotions taking over.

Also, Jaclyn didn't monetize any of those videos that they made (Eugenia said this in a clip, not you). She's always been adamant about not monetizing anything to do with Eugenia because of how often she has been exploited.

Shane, on the other hand, is disgusting and from what I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong) to this day his videos on her are monetized. Eugenia being easily swayed and taken advantage of is evident in the way she allowed him to infiltrate her safe space because of the both of them basically being "OG" YouTubers and Shane no doubt saying he's such an uwu empath and cares sooooo much.

As for her mother...honestly, and I say this as gently as possible and with respect, I am genuinely glad that you have never experienced a manipulative and narcissistic parent. At least that is what it seems like to me with the way you don't criticize her mother. You are right, she is not making Eugenia do anything...but EDs stem from trauma...and what is the most likely way someone can experience that trauma? The home. From parents.
The fact that this woman can look at her daughter every day and as recently as a few days ago (as of me writing this) that she has been in one of her videos tells me that that woman is just as sick and in denial as Eugenia is, but worse because she's her mother. A good mother would NEVER allow their child to get to this degree of sickness and not try to do something about it. Manipulate her into another 5150, not out of rehab because oh she has a weak constitution and needs Eugenia to support her.
Without Eugenia being the breadwinner of their family her mother wouldn't be able to live as comfortable of a life as she currently does, and if that isn't incentive for a morally bankrupt person to keep their daughter in this state then I don't know what is.

{Sorry for the wall of text...you said a few things that I didn't agree with and I was hoping to add a little perspective.}

Agreed - I wrote something similar...

The analogy about how people with social anxiety aren't promoting their social anxiety, so people with AN aren't either, isn't fully accurate. That's because there's 2 types of disorders: ego syntonic & ego dystonic.

AN is ego syntonic & social anxiety is ego dystonic. One is something that you feel is positive or something you aim for...the other is something that distresses you & you wish you could get away from.

So, for example, it would be better to compare AN to another ego syntonic disorder like OCPD. People with that disorder feel like their extreme perfectionism & organization is a great thing. Others may look at their life & think, "wow, I wish I could be that organized or have my house look that perfect, too." There are components of it that people seeking those attributes could pedestalize. And the person with the disorder probably isn't going to denounce their lifestyle/disorder & tell you the downsides so you can avoid the pitfalls of it, because they think those unhealthy toxic traits are actually a good thing. That dishonesty-by-omission can be misleading to impressionable, vulnerable people. Viewers are responsible for their own health decisions, that's true, and yet public figures with influence have their own thresholds of responsibility to acknowledge and address as well. Remember that intentions & impacts aren't the same thing.

I haven't finished watching the video, so I know I'm commenting on one small aspect of what you said, but I think the distinction is important to make, for accuracy's sake.

It IS,salf harm and it does have visual signs too. Her entire appearance from head to toe screams "I AM anorexia "

She has Become her disorder to the point there is no separation between the person a d the illness

Its far different from.any self harming behaviors that can be covered uo.

Shehersekf cannot separate herself from it as every moment r of her life is dedicated to staring at her achievement body checking obsession over her whole body. The fact she actively does it in camera whole barely wearing g clothes makes her the worst case I've ever seen tbh

I agree with this video.

I want to THANK you for pointing out that anorexia is a MENTAL ILLNESS. How dare people blame those who have mental illness. I pray for those truly close to Eugenia and love her help her do what is right. I don't have anorexia, but I do suffer from mental illness. If someone blamed me for that illness, it would break me further. So, everyone, PLEASE BE GENTLE. you do NOT know everyone's story!!!

Dumb Idiot

thank goodness, i was worried i disagreed with you for the first time

jane feingold

There is evidence of the mom being an enabler. First, it's well accepted that Debra is the one filming her videos. Eugenia has never denied this fact.. Second, she appeared twice on Eugenia's twitch stream where she said that her daughter was healthy and took good care of herself. What more do you need???

teef

You brushed over all and every single one of each of the most important parts and as someone who struggled with an ED the lack of care and education of and on the topic in this video was a huge, huge disappointment and I’m glad your audience is letting you know,

doesnt she offend you to be mocking what you know is such a diffucult and painful thing to overcome that you have to be proud you are able to do for yourself? I defend YOU because I know thats what she is doing. she is offensive to peeople in recovery and their loved ones. she is disgusting and offensive when she laughs at a parent begging her to stop who lost a loved one. she is vile and inhumane. thats why youre in recovery and she is not. she cant find her way to caring about anyone, even herself

wishing you a steady and comfortable recovery <33
