Stranger In Paradise
R. WRIGHT Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Strangler in paradise
A killer in the crowd
Strangler in paradise
This red light district is going down

He's gonna take you
Kiss and caress you
Grab your throat
And squeeze it real tight
He's gonna make you
Kiss and then bless you
Sins he'll wash away this night

Strangler in paradise
A killer in the crowd
Pimps and queens and porno screens
This red light district is going down

On these misty neon streets
Hiding in shadows
A man with no face
Waiting for the strumpet
The chosen one
Strangle embrace
Another whore gone

He's got the power
God flows through his veins
The lord gave him a mission
To take out the bad

On these streets in pattering rain
Girls in tight plastic
Have sex with no shame

Pimps are waiting counting the cash
A punter is coming it won't be the last

Overall Meaning

R. Wright’s song, Stranger in Paradise, is a haunting and sinister commentary on the dangers of the red-light district. The song describes a killer in the crowd, a strangler in paradise, who is stalking the streets and preying on the prostitutes and their customers. The lyrics are graphic and chilling, describing in vivid detail the killer’s method of operation. He grabs his victims by the throat and squeezes until they are dead. The song paints a picture of a place where sin and depravity reign, and where the innocent are in constant danger.

The song is a warning against the lure of the red-light district and the dangers that can lurk there. The lyrics suggest that the killer is on a mission from God to take out the bad, but it is also clear that he is a twisted and evil individual. The fact that he is described as having the power of God flowing through his veins adds an extra layer of creepiness to the song. The chorus is repeated throughout the song, adding to the sense of menace and danger that permeates the lyrics.

Overall, Stranger in Paradise is a chilling and thought-provoking song that explores the darker side of human nature. It is a warning against the dangers of the red-light district and a reminder that evil can lurk in even the most seemingly idyllic of places.

I really wish they would make an undamaged rapture city, I can spend hours wandering in those malls listening to these ambient music

HAL 9000

You have more or less that with Burial at Sea

HONESTreviews

An undamaged first half of the game then a civil war and destruction in the second half. That would be awsome. Maybe a second Rapture that no one knew about during the first game.

I heard this song by accident while exploring, it took my mind away what a beautiful piece, the place where they've put it makes even better, this cold dim lighted place astonishing.

What a great game.

same here, i heard Andre Rieu version before long time ago, and then while playing Bioshock i stop for a moment "i heard that music before".

bioshock is one of such fantastic games that is very confused. This game has a good plot that is not immediately clear. The atmosphere of this game is very addictive. I am glad that we have such a game. Goodbye Bioshock
(I'm sorry for the mistakes)

@Winnie Dewitt So true. I had always esteemed Bioshock Infinite's plot with low regard until I actually took time to look into it and try to understand it. While it is, of course, not at all perfect, the essence of the story is really something remarkable and I agree wholeheartedly with you when you say the atmosphere is addictive. It's honestly quite magical and extremely engaging and I look forward to when I can play the game again and immerse myself within it. Thanks for your comment!

@Mr. Friedpickles Precisely because Levin will not participate in the new part of the bioshock, I am not really looking forward to this part, and then what will they tell us about? as for me the plot is finished, but curious what they will come up with)

@Louis XIV The story is pure propaganda and brainwashing against Christian and ethnic nationalism. I tried my hardest to like it, I really did. Initially, I loved the characters. Especially the innocence of Elizabeth, who they eventually turned into a cold-blooded sociopath. I also liked Booker's healthy cynicism. But the most egregious part of the story is the utterly laughable portrayal of nationalism and mockery of Christianity through the villain - a real caricature of the truth. Some people try to brush it aside and claim that it's merely a 'critique' but it's much more than that, unfortunately. And if the player-base had a stronger sense of their history, culture and faith, they would understand that. I'm not saying there aren't positives to this game. Beautiful graphics, music, incredibly creative world-building and potential for a wonderful, wholesome story. But they destroy it by portraying western tradition as inherently antithetical to the progress and liberation of mankind from hierarchy and order, acting exceedingly charitably toward the former but not towards the latter. It is a pure propaganda piece, and probably has helped turn so many young minds to mush. It's sad, because there is a great story in there.

I can imagine walking down market street or the department store(before it was sunked down by Ryan) the lights are dimmed low and the ocean water is just a bit more darker signifying it’s late. You’re walking through with the ocean view on your right as only a few passerby are out late with just your thoughts and this music playing in the background
