I was born in ´71 and grew up in the 80´s working class (hard rock enriched) environments. And "NO", i don´t consider myself "a religious person". I totally believe in an all creating cosmic god though (but in a far, far broader form/context than "an old guy with a Santa Claus beard"). I also feel the deepest respect for everything that concern Jesus, whatever/whoever he was/is. But established
religions ?. "Thanks but no thanks !". Anyway, no matter if i liked heavy metal or not, "the soundtrack of my youth" was to some extent "Kiss", "Saxon", "Europe", "Van Halen" and "Bon Jovi", pretty much everywhere and anytime. Pretty tireing. But at least, i found SOME of it all right at least. But i´ve always, ALWAYS hated that "Hells bells", "Bring your daughter to the slaughter", "W.e A.re S.atan´s P.eople", "The number of the beast", "Black sabbath", turned crucifixes, the "horn sign" (or whatever it is they do with their fingers), "wearing goat heads/eating live animals on stage" etc., kind of shit !...

About Kiss: I actually don´t know what they stands for or if they have been into that satanic, black rocking, burning crap that their collegues feel so keen about. What i know is: "Destruction" is a recurrent theme in their materials. In lyrics´s as well as on pictures and on stage. They like to smoke stuff that are illegal in most countries and that f¤¤ks up human brains on rather permanent basis (again, "destructuon"). Their costumes are meant to look like..well,..what ARE they meant to look like ?. It can´t be halloween everyday so.. But okay, let´s say that those bat wings and abstract leather suits has nothing to do with demons etc. . STILL: They aren´t meant to bring an impression of sympathetic, positive persons,
right ?. AND: Many, many small children and babies must have ended up scared and in tears when they´ve seen "Kiss" on TV or live through the years (neighter make faces covered in paint and with meaningless patterns, anything better). About their music: As a descent guitarist and a true music lover myself, i´m not very impressed actually. The guitar solos, some of the songs´s bass work, and of course the drummer´s performances...It´s good, but not impressing. Their melodies are simple/harmonical compositions inmature (even if some of them ARE TRULY CATCHY, i must admit !). The lyrics´s,..well, i´m "not a lyric kind of guy", so never mind about that.

So, to conlude it: "Is Kiss a good thing ?". NO !. "Is it strange if some ("old") people mistakes "Kiss" for other Metal band from the 80´s era, that actually WAS/IS into satanism ?. NO !. Is there better rock music to enjoy than "Kiss" ?. YES !. Jeff Beck, Yngwie Malmsteen and Eric Clapton are geniuses !. "Status quo" has good songs for all kinds of rockers and ages , and so has "Queen", "Slade", "Creedence C.W.R", "Rolling stones", "Santana", "ZZ top" and "Dire straits" !. Is there better role models than "Kiss" for teenagers ?. YES !. Probably THE MOST actually, considering their haschish/marijuana habits. But especially U2 (spokespersons for climate issues and anti drug policies). And Bruce Springsteen (Anti bullshit/Trump/semi fascist rhetorical).

It's the first song I can remember "clicking" for me. I listened to it with focus, beginning to end, over and over, from discovering it in a cupboard on an 8 track next to the 8 track player, memorizing it. I loved it. Great, driving, hard rock with this dark, evocative story and horrific ending, the image of the band members on the label entrancing, especially Simmons. Asked for one of their albums (Alive) and sent in the insert card that allowed me to join the KISS army before I was 6. I've always wondered if I'd like hard rock, métal, industrial, etc as much as I do if this song hadn't been my very first truly favorite song.
