Ferrell's 1992 eponymous debut album was released on Capitol Records and had a more contemporary/pop ambience. She, however, was also able to release jazz recordings on Blue Note Records, as a result of her unique contract.
In 2014, Rachelle Ferrell appeared on a new webseries called "Now What with Kevin E. Taylor," where she was the series season premiere. Ferrell decided, moved by Spirit, to sing her entire interview and at one point, she reduced the host to tears.

[edit] Trivia
In 1999, Rachelle appeared at the "Lady of Soul Awards" to pay tribute to Natalie Cole singing "I've Got Love On My Mind." The audience gave Rachelle a standing ovation.[5] The jazz singer later commented that she was surprised at the reaction, "I came out with no make up, with wild hair…and the people went crazy! It was such a blessing to have people respond that way after being away for [such] a long time…"[6]
Sentimental
Rachelle Ferrell Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I know it's two in the morning
Sorry for calling so late
I never get any warning
Something comes over me
And I cannot wait
I want to be with you
Guess
Chorus
I'm feeling sentimental tonight
Darling, don't you know that I will never get over you
Sentimental don't remember what's wrong or right
It's just a feeling that'll help me get through the night
2nd Verse
I saw your sister in town today
She wanted to know if I was okay
I tried to pretend everything was cool
She said, "Tears don't lie and I know the truth"
Oh, I want you, I need you
To do what we used to do!
'Cause
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
If I'm incurable
Then you're my disease
But I don't mind feeling this way
If you'll come and see about me!
Repeat Chorus
In this song, Rachelle Ferrell is expressing her feelings of longing and nostalgia for a past relationship. She starts by apologizing for calling in the middle of the night, acknowledging that she never plans to feel this way, but sometimes it becomes overwhelming. She wants to be with this person again, just like they used to be, but she seems unsure if this desire is mutual or not. The chorus, "I'm feeling sentimental tonight, Darling, don't you know that I will never get over you, Sentimental don't remember what's wrong or right, It's just a feeling that'll help me get through the night," shows just how powerful her emotions are and how they are keeping her up at night.
