The second one is a one-time fun single done in the Netherlands for Christmas. "Ik ben Rachid", a fun play on christmas and all shoarma/kebab restaurants in the Netherlands.
Rachid, with this single on the label 21st Century Music presents himself to the large Dutch public R.
Rachid was born in Morocco and came on his 7th year to the village of Oudenbosch with his family. Soon hit R interested in the Dutch-language songs by, among others, André Hazes, Frans Bauer, Koos Alberts, Frank Baker, Marco Borsato, etc.
Rachid was discovered on a talent hunt in his hometown. The conductor of the local choir, Anneke van Alphen, Rachid took under her wing. When the football club where R played a Jubilee fourth wrote on the song "a day in 1000 dreams" by Frans Bauer in an individual text. That went R as well off that he decided to continue with a singing career.

We're too ashamed to talk
'Cause we're too damn proud
Pretending not to know about him
Pretending not to know about her
We fell and got our feelings hurt
Oh well, it's over now
He's waiting for you in the car outside
Oh well, it's over now
And I'm breaking down
But I'll never bring myself to cry
[Chorus:]
You can take all the records
You can even take the damn goodbye
Better take what you can
'Cause I'll never let you take my pride
I'll never let you take my pride
Gotta put my tears aside
Because I'll never let you take my pride
It's cruel how she needs to see me ache
She'll know that it's real if she sees the hate
Did you really need to bring him here
Why can't we part with dignity?
It's a pity bout your insecurity
Can't believe it's over now
No need to work it out
I'm so relieved we never had a child
Well, it's over now and I'm breaking down
I gotta clean up this mess you made inside
[Chorus:]
Sha la la la la
Sha la la la la
Sha la la la la la la
Oh well, it's over now
And I'm breaking down
But I'll never bring myself to cry
[Chorus:]
The lyrics of Rachid's song "Pride" talk about a breakup where both parties are too proud to talk about their feelings. It is about the struggle of keeping pride intact during a painful experience like a relationship ending. The first verse talks about the irony of how silence can be louder than spoken words. They are too ashamed to talk about what happened but their pride is so strong that they are unwilling to admit their mistakes. The chorus reveals that they are not letting go of their pride and they will not allow their ex-partner to take it from them. This attitude is both self-destructive but also a way for them to not feel completely powerless in the situation.
The second verse talks about the ex-partner's actions that make the situation even more difficult. The singer sees the actions of the ex-partner as an attempt to show the hurt and to make it seem more real. It highlights the cruelty in the way that people often try to prove that the pain they feel is real. They ask why they can't end it with dignity and blame the insecurity of the ex-partner for the sorry state of their relationship. The singer then talks about how they are relieved that they had no child together, which would have made the situation even more complicated.
Overall, the lyrics of "Pride" are about the double-edged sword of pride. While it can protect us from feeling too vulnerable and powerless, it can also make it harder to communicate and connect with others. It is a song about the struggle to keep pride intact while dealing with the pain of a breakup.

Geez. What a lucky, random find. He might be one of the best singers I've never heard of. I'm not on instagram but I can imagine him on there doing those insane, viral vocal runs like Jasmine Sullivan or Tori Kelly. He's part of a very small group of people.

Back when BET played music videos, they’d play this one every hour. I loved his voice, the song, and the video. It also took me some years, but I think I finally understand the concept of the video
@LordofFaygo
