Walk Away
Racoon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You cover your eyes, if you can't stand the side
Walk away
You cover your ears, so you don't have to hear
Walk away
You cover your nightmares, you put them away
'cause if nobody knows then they might go away
Walk away, walk away, walk away
Without me

You cover your lies with stories and smiles
Walk away
You're scared what to find so you just run and hide
You run away
If you play with a gun then you will shoot someone
When you sit in the fire it's your ass getting warm
Walk away, walk away, walk away
Without me, without me, without me, without me

Why do yell, you can whisper as well
Walk away
These teardrops of rain, they're masking your shame
You walk away
In this midsummer storm you see a midsummer fight
Put your head in the sand if you can't make it right

Walk away, walk away, walk away,
Without me

Overall Meaning

The song Walk Away by Racoon talks about a person who covers up their fears, lies, and mistakes by running away from them. The lyrics suggest that the person is afraid to confront their problems, and so they choose to ignore them and pretend that they do not exist. The first verse talks about how a person covers their eyes and ears to avoid facing the side or hearing something they do not want to hear. They even cover their nightmares and hide them away in the hope that they will disappear. The chorus emphasizes the person's desire to walk away from everything, including the people around them.

The second verse of the song talks about how the person covers up their lies with stories and smiles. They are afraid to face the truth, and so they choose to run from it. The lyrics also suggest that the person is dangerous to themselves and others. If they play with a gun, they might shoot someone, and if they sit in the fire, it's their ass getting warm. The chorus repeats again, emphasizing the person's desire to walk away from everything and everyone.

The song's bridge suggests that the person does not communicate honestly with others, and they're ashamed of their tears. Then it talks about how the person sees a midsummer fight in a midsummer storm and prefers to put their head in the sand instead of trying to make it right. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the person's desire to walk away from everything and everyone.

Overall, the song Walk Away by Racoon is a call to face one's fears and confront them instead of running away. It speaks to the idea that problems do not disappear when ignored, but they grow larger and fester when left unaddressed.

I can listen to this song 20 times in a row and I still love it. For me it's about my old class who kind of bullied me. I felt bullied, I told a few teachers, but I knew it was not enough to punish them. They always had a good excuse, and it was only mentally. I wasn't even sure if they knew what they were doing, untill I didn't pass and I came in a new class. I dared to ask someone how they thought about me, and she said they heard a gossip that I was a bitch. I don't even want to know who of my old class said that. Sometimes I still want to punch them in tje face for what they did.
For me, it's about not passing a class on purpose, walking away and still take the feelings with me, instead of punching like 20 people in the face like I should have done.

@loesiechan

it's impressive that you realize this. Often it's much much easier to walk away and start over but it takes real courage to stand up for yourself and confront those people. I hope you will succeed next time :)

@eeyorepiglet3131

+Loes-chan thank you.
I am still confronting them by ignoring almost all of them, but I know they don't care. I should stop, one of them isn't passing (he didn't do anything, not bullying, not stopping it) and is probably in my class next year, and I still don't know how to act. So I'll just be nice to him, like he should have done to me, because I know he talked to a social worker and he isn't feeling well. One doesn't pass without this kind of reason.

Yes, thank you, I'm the hero.
