Cooper's sophomore album, "Family Tree: The Roots" was released in October 2011. It is the first of the trilogy record called "The Family Tree" which follows the story of a fictional family from 1800 to 1950. Following "The Roots" will be "The Branches" and "The Relatives" respectively.
In between his first two Radical Face records Ben released two EP's to fill the gap. The first was "Touch The Sky". In the summer of 2011 "The Bastards Volume 1" EP was released. Other volumes will compliment the fore-coming Family Tree trilogy.
Under his 'Radical Face' moniker his music features acoustic guitar, "found-sound" percussion, and many multi-layered tracks. The sound is incredibly unique, not only because of Cooper's originality and raw talent, but also because most of the music has traditionally been recorded in the shed in his backyard.

Does anyone else think of The Giving Tree with this song? There’s a lot of imagery in this song I associate with trees (the world may cut you down; come build your home in me; step up on my back and climb), and like The Giving Tree, the speaker in this song seems to be willing to give everything they have to a specific person, always trying to help and be there for them, even if they get little or nothing in return. I wonder if that was an intentional parallel or if I’m just reading too much into it. Either way, gorgeous song.

Child protection services have failed four young beautiful children who were, and are, possibly at this very moment, being abused. I've tried all that I could for them, I really did. But it seems child protection services don't care, even with a first hand witness testimony. So in my grief I listen to this song and sob uncontrollably. These lyrics encapsulate what I'll say to them when they're older.
