Radio Moscow formed in Ames in 2004, a collaboration between two garage punk enthusiasts whose tastes had shifted into the heavy side of late-'60s psychedelia. Guitarist, singer, songwriter, and drummer Parker Griggs and bassist Luke McDuff approached Auerbach with a demo following a Black Keys gig, and the more established musician was impressed enough to both produce their debut album and to get the duo signed to his label, Alive Records. Although Griggs and McDuff recorded their self-titled first album as a duo, the pair hired drummer Mayuko to complete the trio for live purposes shortly before the album's release.
The band continued as a two-piece for 2009's hard-hitting Brain Cycles and 2011's even beefier The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz. In 2012, Alive released 3 and 3 Quarters, an album Griggs recorded by himself in 2003 when he was 17 years old and much more heavily influenced by Pebbles-style garage rock. For the 2014 album Magical Dirt, Radio Moscow unveiled a new lineup, with Griggs joined by a fresh rhythm section, bassist Anthony Meier and drummer Paul Marrone. Now officially a power trio, the group documented its new on-stage force with the 2016 release Live in California. The following year saw the group ink a deal with Century Media Records and release the heavy psych-fueled New Beginnings, their fifth studio long-player.

If the sun shine me a day
No, I don't care
If the sun shine me today
Clouded sight, clouded mind
Keeps on getting in the way
It just gets in the way
Just gets in the way
Just gets in the way
Gotta keep on drowning in this cage
No, I don't care
If those stars come out to play
Just don't care
If those stars come out to play
City lights and these fast cars
They keep on driving in my way
Oh it just gets in the way
Just gets in my way
Just gets in the way
Just gets in the way
Gotta keep on drowning in this cage
Just gets in the way
Just gets in my way
Just keep on getting in the way
Oh you get right in the way
Gotta keep on drowning in this cage
Yeah
"City Lights" by Radio Moscow is a song that expresses the frustration of being trapped in a busy city life. The lyrics reflect the singer's mental state and how their sight and mind are clouded, making it difficult for them to navigate through life. The sun shining or the stars coming out, which are often perceived as uplifting and beautiful, do not matter to the singer because their attention is blocked by the hustle and bustle of the city. The city lights and fast cars represent the urban lifestyle and how it keeps interfering with the singer's direction in life. Despite the frustration, the singer urges themselves to keep going and drowning in this "cage," meaning that they have no choice but to persevere and continue with their everyday life.
The song reflects how the modern world and busy city lives can feel overwhelming and oppressive. The theme of feeling trapped, lost, and alone in such surroundings is relatable to all, as one can often feel overwhelmed by daily stresses and distractions. The song's lyrics encourage perseverance and the need to keep going, even when life gets challenging.

Just found this. Incredible, it reminds me of everything good about Jimi Hendrix, with even some heavy Rage against the machine riffs. Come and tour England will you!
