04 I Might Be Wrong
Radiohead Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I might be wrong
I might be wrong
I could have sworn I saw a light coming on

I used to think
I used to think
There was no future left at all
I used to think

Start again begin again
Let's go down the waterfall
Think about the good times and never go back
Never go back

What would I do?
What would I do?
If I did not have you?

Open up, let me in
Let's go down the waterfall
Have ourselves a good time
It's nothing at all
Nothing at all
Nothing at all

Come back
Come back

Ah, ah
Ah

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Radiohead's "I Might Be Wrong" are open to interpretation, but one possible interpretation is that the singer is questioning their own perceptions and decision making. The repetition of "I might be wrong" suggests uncertainty and doubt, while the reference to a "light coming on" could symbolize a newfound insight or realization. The singer acknowledges their past pessimism and lack of hope, but decides to start anew and embrace the positive aspects of the present. The line "what would I do if I did not have you" could be interpreted as an expression of gratitude towards a particular person or group of people who have supported the singer.

The chorus, with its repeated references to going down a waterfall and having a good time, could be interpreted as a metaphor for embracing risk and living in the moment. The concluding lines, "come back, come back," could be an expression of longing or a plea for someone or something to return.

In a magazine, fans were asked to interpret the lyrics, and Thom himself rated their interpretations. This one was rated 11/10 by Thom. "The song is about the merging of life and death and getting past your mistakes. Yorke questions what comes in the afterlife. The waterfall represents moving on to the next world, and when he sees the light he thinks he may have seen death. but then he realizes there is a future and that he wants to live life to the fullest."

@PalaceDude

Such a cool idea. Today we have the repetitive "read tweets" and "read what people search..." boring ass segments.
