Packt Like Sardines In A Crushed Tin Box
Radiohead Lyrics

After years of waiting
Nothing came
As your life flashed before your eyes
You realize

I'm a reasonable man
Get off, get off, get off my case
I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case
Get off my case

After years of waiting
After years of waiting nothing came
And you realize you're looking
Looking in the wrong place

I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case
Get off my case
I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case
Get off my case
Get off my case
I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case
Get off my case
Get off my case

After years of waiting
You're a reasonable man
Get off my case
Get off my case
Get off my case
I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case
Get off my case
Get off my case

I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case
Get off my case
Get off my case
I'm a reasonable man
Get off my case

Get off my case
Get off my case

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Packt Like Sardines In A Crushed Tin Box" by Radiohead are about disappointment and frustration with the way life is turning out. The phrase "after years of waiting, nothing came," refers to the idea that the singer was waiting for something good to happen in their life, but it never did. As the singer's life flashes before their eyes, they come to the realization that they were looking in the wrong place for happiness and fulfillment.

The chorus of the song, "I'm a reasonable man, get off my case," can be interpreted as the singer defending themselves against those who may judge them for their current situation. They are acknowledging that life hasn't turned out the way they wanted it to, but they are still making the best of the situation and don't want to be judged for it. The repetition of the chorus throughout the song emphasizes the frustration and annoyance the singer feels towards those who are criticizing them.

The title of the song, "Packt Like Sardines In A Crushed Tin Box," can be seen as a metaphor for the singer's feelings of being trapped and compressed in their life. The sardines in a can represent the singer as feeling small and insignificant, and the "crushed tin box" symbolizes the pressure and stress they feel in their life.

Overall, the lyrics of "Packt Like Sardines In A Crushed Tin Box" express the theme of disappointment and frustration with life, as well as the idea of being judged by others for one's circumstances.

Yeah the camera turns to Johnny and Johnny seems to be looking right at the camera and into his soul. The cameraman quickly turns away because he can't handle it. Great moment.

DailyNihilism Or, he's just bored and with a funny expression on his face. But I like your version more

Drew Smith

I honestly like this version so much more than the older version they used to play on the Kid A/Amnesiac tour.

Something Something Music

Its rendition I don't mind but I prefer this. Love the rhythm

kaldu ikan fugu

but unlucky its not well recorded

V30474

id be surprised if Radiohead didnt play this more in the next decade, this tempo and sound is very Thom Yorke of this era. A lot more percussion oriented and danceable

Lupe

well tbh with AMSP they dropped their dancy beats a bit. It has a lot more strings, chilled songs and a bit of melancholy in each of them, which is cool, they're always contrasting their previous album

AmphaNotes

Hmm, it doesn't seem like they have played it this year or so, at least from searching on youtube

Coldacre

they finally played it right!!!!!!!

took them long enough!

well to be fair, when they first played it in 2001, their idea of experimental was for Jonny to play the riff on guitar through a fast tremolo pedal...

it just goes to show how far theyve come in the last 15 years, as far as reproducing ALL of the songs on stage. they can play ANYTHING.
