Boyfriend
RaeLynn Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Let's be honest we don't got a lot in common when it comes down to it
You can take his breath away and light up every room when you walk through it
But I don't want you six foot legs and angel face and sophistication
Don't really want to causes scene but girl you got everything
And I want your boyfriend
I'm not gonna lie
I'll be his girl when he tells you good bye
Don't worry I won't take him cause I ain't that low
I want your boyfriend just thought you should know
That he and I go back so far oh my gosh we lived in his first truck
First time we heard Shania Twain I think we were on our way to Lubbcock
And I know you think he loves you now
Seen so many girls come in and out
It sounds a bit insensitive
But the truth is what it is
I want your boyfriend
I'm not gonna lie
I'll be his girl when he tells you good bye
Don't worry I won't take him cause I ain't that low
I want your boyfriend just thought you should know, yeah
Don't know why you act so surprised
Can't you see it in his eyes
You must have known it all this time
Yeah
That I want your boyfriend
To tell you the truth I'll be right there when he gets over you
What's meant to be will always find its way in the end
I want your boyfriend
I'm not gonna lie
I'll be his girl when he tells you good bye
Don't worry I won't take him cause I ain't that low
I want your boyfriend
I want your boyfriend

I want your boyfriend
Just thought you should know

My husband sent me this song.. we met at 15 and I watched so many girls come and go. I loved him, but the timing just wasn’t right until later in life. I always respected his relationships (and he mine). We’ve been married for 15 years and have two kids. Wykyk ❤️

Just heard this for the first time and I absolutely LOVE this song and her voice is amazing and raw sounding!

This is such a great song. So many people write about things like heartbreak and how their boyfriend is mean, but this is really unique. Also, Raelynn has managed to turn this into such a great song- memorized it in five days!!!

Just wanted to put this out there: this does happen quite often in middle school and even sometimes in high school, but once you hit adulthood it all changes, girls.
It's kinda like this, you meet a guy and you think he's cute and everything, maybe even hang out- but once you find out he has a girlfriend, it becomes like an instant un-attraction to him.
FOR THIS REASON: you're now old enough to know that you don't want to put your heart out for a guy that will most likely break it and cause drama in the process. You may still think he's cute, but you move on. Once you hit adulthood and realize there's plenty more guys out there, you're not gonna risk it for a guy that's taken.
Stay strong, girls! This will pass, and remember, guys love to cause drama between 2 girls that like him, cus he thinks it makes him look cool- especially in front of his friends.

Don't feed into it and just know, once you're an adult in the dating scene, this drama is usually over with.<3
