Rae's groundbreaking debut album helped to bring the flavour of flossing to wax as well as the use of the moniker among Wu brethren and other prominent emcees. The single "Verbal Intercourse" featured the first appearance of Nas Escobar, Nas' alter ego. Similarly, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, who served as Rae's partner in rhyme throughout the entire Cuban Linx album, also developed a slew of other identities. Identities like Lex Diamond, one of the flashy, witty and intellectually stimulating personas of the multifaceted Raekwon.
In the years after the release of Cuban Linx, Raekwon continued to record several albums with the Clan including the platinum Wu-Tang Forver (1997) and The W (2000), as well as the gold Iron Flag (2001). He also starred in the critically acclaimed film Black and White, before releasing his second solo album, Immobilarity in 1999. Four years later, it's time for another masterpiece from Raekwon.
The Lex Diamond Story, Raekwon's forthcoming third solo album is that desperately needed effort. This new LP is as much a reflection of his first musical triumph Cuban Linx, as it is a manifestation of the future and what is to come from this great emcee. Raekwon is like the E.F. Hutton of hip-hop: when he speaks, everyone listens. The current void in hip-hop is filled with this rap veteran's
crafty verbal gymnastics and artistic form of storytelling. The Lex Diamond Story takes the top shelf elements of the Wu's first album and the finest sentiments of Raekwon's debut and joins them together to deliver another classic album to the masses.
A lyrical gourmet meal, The Lex Diamond Story shows that The Chef still possesses the recipe to cook up a jambalaya of words with the main ingredient being superior skills. Animated and intense, Raekwon's stealth delivery is filled with emotion, skilled cadence and an array of diverse stories, hooks, and topics. The track, "All Over Again (The Way We Were)" touches on the flavour of "Can It Be All So Simple" with its tale of street survival. Meanwhile, "Pit Bull Fights" is reminiscent of the ferocious lyrical beating inflicted on "Incarcerated Scarfaces." Raekwon is indisputably at his creative beast. Unchained and uninhibited, he is assertive with his music and focused on his goals.

Word
Yeah
Jump into the movie, let's go
Flex around town with the powerful flow in the latest
I'm like a jag, more spots, more courageous, I'm here
I never left, the chef blade henchman
We all wearin' sweats, Gillettes, and oxes, more foxes
Coolin' on top of the spots holdin' choppers
Some new Jordan 6s in the Sixes
Fly niggas fuck this, fuck that
My winners get enough that
Teflon Dons and pimps, pop models
Louis goggles and the S class blast
Don't hit the potholes
We racin', everything's laced, here's the ratio
Now bust that down, let's get more fellatio
Chandeliers on the throats, we still chef it up
We heal niggas with notes, we stay weapon up
Over the pots and stoves, we still chef it up
Through the valley of hopes we stay flexin', what?
Chandeliers on the throats, we still chef it up
We heal niggas with notes, we stay weapon up
Over the pots and stoves, we still chef it up
Through the valley of hopes we stay flexin', what?
Grass get lit in bamboo, the band new
I will be one of the elites in the streets
Stores where fours get bought we open up wars
Some swords get caught, some broads got bored
Next level, new level, it's gods against devils
Czars against rebels, we never been flipped
Army brigades with blades on, all types of niggas catch fades
In the middle of the street in the yellow line
The timin' is massive, let's run to the parade
Bangkok hammers get blazed
It's in the streets, be amazed
How young homies turn into slaves
Eat that nigga for days, what
Chandeliers on the throats, we still chef it up
We heal niggas with notes, we stay weapon up
Over the pots and stoves, we still chef it up
Through the valley of hopes we stay flexin', what?
Chandeliers on the throats, we still chef it up
We heal niggas with notes, we stay weapon up
Over the pots and stoves, we still chef it up
Through the valley of hopes we stay flexin', what?
Yeah, yeah
That's how you do that shit, man, for real, man?
That's what you doin to niggas, man?
That's how it's going down?
Ayo, let me tell you something, man
Fuck all them nig-, straight up, man
I don't even wanna say it, man
But y'all already know, man
Y'all already know the greatest man
The greatest man
We the fuckin' best, nigga, what?
Yeah, son
Tell 'em what it is son
That's right, man
The adventures
Chef, one, yeah y'all
In this song, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah use their lyrical prowess to describe their high-end lifestyle and unbridled confidence. They use clever wordplay and analogies to illustrate the opulence of their lives. The two rappers first mention their expensive clothing, with Raekwon describing himself as a jaguar, and Ghostface adding that they are all wearing sweatpants, Gillettes, and oxes. The rappers also talk about their collection of chandeliers and how they use their music to heal people. They make references to being powerful figures in the streets and being misunderstood by other people.
Moving on, the rappers allude to their confrontations with opponents on the street, describing how they clash with different factions. They liken their conflicts to a battle between gods and devils or czars and rebels. They also reference to some of their young allies who've been turned into slaves and fed to other inmates.
In conclusion, "Cutting It Up" is a celebration of wealth, power, and dominance by Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, two of rap's most prominent figures. Despite encompassing themes such as poverty, crime and drug abuse, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are unapologetic about their chosen lifestyle and the values that come with it.
