Talkin' to the memories of all I've ever known
But you can't find me
I'm a million miles from midnight
I'm a blues child, baby, born to be alone
I'm just a loaded gun
I know I'm not the only one
I know I'm not the only one
Jesus Christ and a heart attack
Sufferin' to be loved, I relate to that
Oh, maybe you don't know what you have
Oh, and some day, I'm gone take it back
I love every season, even hurricane
I'm needin' just to sit still
I know there's nowhere, nowhere to run
Maybe there's an answer
I'm a Pisces, not a Cancer
I wish I could be there for you, baby
But I'm just too much
I'm just a loaded gun
I know I'm not the only one
Pointed straight at the sun
I know I'm not the only one
Ooh oh, ooh ooh-oh
Ooh oh, ooh ooh-oh
And I crucify myself
And I crucify myself
And I crucify myself
And I crucify myself
And I crucify myself
And I crucify myself
And I crucify myself
And I crucify myself
Ooh oh, ooh ooh-oh
Ooh oh, ooh ooh-oh
The lyrics to Raff-CuSS's song THE SUN are introspective and melancholic, exploring feelings of isolation and being a misplaced outsider. The verse "I go out walkin' after twilight, talkin' to the memories of all I've ever known, but you can't find me, I'm a million miles from midnight" paints an image of the singer wandering alone at night, seeking solace in nostalgia but ultimately feeling detached from everything around him. The lines "I'm a blues child, baby, born to be alone" underscore this sense of alienation and a deep-seated sense of sadness.
The chorus of the song offers a hint of rebellion and strength amidst the despair. "I'm just a loaded gun, I know I'm not the only one, shootin' straight at the sun, I know I'm not the only one" suggests that the singer is not alone in his struggles, and that he is willing to fight back against them, even if it means facing the blindingly bright heat of the sun. The bridge of the song introduces religious and astrological imagery ("Jesus Christ and a heart attack," "I'm a Pisces not a Cancer"), indicating that the singer is grappling with a deep search for meaning and identity that is rooted in both spirituality and his own sense of self.
