He said, "Now is the needed time...
You promised that you'd answer prayer...
Lord, won't you come by here"...
And then God, he sent an angel down...
And the angel locked the lion's jaw...
Raffi's song "Daniel in the Lion's Den" tells the story of a biblical figure, Daniel, who was punished for his faith and thrown into a den of lions. The lyrics open with the ominous danger of the situation as the listener picturizes Daniel, a lone figure standing before a pack of ferocious beasts. Then, the song takes a hopeful turn as Daniel prays to God, asking him to answer his prayers and save him from this perilous ordeal. And then, in a moment of divine intervention, an angel is sent down from heaven to protect Daniel by locking the lions' jaws, keeping him safe from harm.
The song is a wonderful depiction of the Old Testament story, emphasizing Daniel's devotion to his faith and his unwavering trust in God. The lyrics reveal the power of faith and prayer to overcome any obstacle and to trust in the power of God's love and protection.
