Sirens
Rag'n'Bone Man Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Will I succumb, lose myself again
As the sirens sing aloud their song
Should I sing along, and give myself to sin
When the Siren's calling
Jump this ship and crash into the waves
(When the siren's calling)
(When the siren's calling)
Hold my ears to deafen out the sound
(When the siren's calling)
Ignore these voices that will drag me down
When the sirens call my name
(Whem the siren's calling)
Jump this ship and crash into the waves
(When the siren's calling)
Break my back on jagged rocks again
(When the siren's calling)
Hold my ears to deafen out the sound
(When the siren's calling)
Ignore these voices that will drag me down
When the sirens call my name
The lyrics of Rag'n'Bone Man's song SIRENS reflects on the struggle with temptation and desires that can lead one astray from the path they intended to follow. The song starts with the singer asking himself if he will succumb to the call of the sirens and lose himself again. The sirens in Greek mythology would lure sailors with their enchanting songs, leading them to their deaths. In the song, the sirens represent the temptations that call out to us and lead us towards a destructive path.
The singer is unsure of whether he should sing along and give himself to sin or ignore the call and stay on his chosen course. He then talks about the various ways he can resist the temptation, but he is still frightened that the voices will drag him down. The lyrics reflect the internal conflict that we all face when we encounter situations that can potentially endanger our well-being. It's a battle between our desire to indulge in temporary pleasures against the voice of reason that tries to keep us grounded.
Overall, the lyrics of SIRENS are powerful and thought-provoking, and they remind us that we have to be mindful of our desires and the consequences of our actions. We must be strong and resist the call of temptation, or we may find ourselves in a situation that we cannot get out of.
