All money, all power, all godlike
And everything you rely on
Hey, you think you are safe this way
But now I'm going to change the rules
You gave it all in my hands
Your days, they will be counted soon
What goes around that will come around
Raise your head, it is time to burn
You'll set this world on fire
All you had's gone with no return
You'll set this world on fire
You, tell me what you've learned
You took all the gifts that I gave you
And turned them into a nightmare
Hey, you've had every chance there was
You fool, you always failed too soon
You should be one step ahead
I'm fear - and I still make the rules
What goes around that will come around
You will have to take what's to come
Raise your head, it is time to burn
You'll set this world on fire
All you had's gone with no return
You'll set this world on fire
Set this world on fire
The lyrics to Rage's song "Set This World On Fire" are filled with anger, frustration, and a desire for change. The singer of the song claims to be the "king of the world" with "all money, all power, all godlike" and threatens to change the rules and make everyone "take what's to come." They accuse the listener of relying on the safety of the world as it is and warn them that "what goes around will come around." The chorus urges the listener to "raise your head, it is time to burn" and to "set this world on fire" as everything they once had is now gone with no hope of return.
The song can be interpreted as a call to overthrow the current systems of power and authority that hold people back from reaching their full potential. The singer identifies those in power as those who keep others dependent on them and encourages listeners to take control by embracing their power to effect change. The idea of burning down the old structures and starting anew can be seen as a metaphor for revolution and the destruction of systems of oppression.
