DeVaughn's musical story began with his mother's vinyl collection. "I always loved music so I would sneak into her record collection when she wasn't around and play her stuff." DeVaughn's father, noted jazz musician Abdul Wadud was also an influence. DeVaughn knew at an early age that he would become an entertainer.
DeVaughn graduated from High Point High School in Beltsville, Maryland; then headed to nearby Coppin State. It was the first day of college that changed the course of his life. "I saw a group of guys standing outside singing, Boyz II Men style," remembers DeVaughn. "I just went up there and started harmonizing with them. Before I knew what was going on, I was in a group, cutting class to write lyrics and record." After winning $2,000.00 in a talent show at Bar None, a Washington D.C. nightclub, DeVaughn decided to go for broke and invested all of his winnings into a CD burner. Several independent releases led to a showcase with Jive Records, and the career was on it's way.

You're a nurturer and a superwoman
You're every daughter that becomes a mother
And you can be my rock to the highest mountain top
From my heart to my toes, to cherish, love and hold
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
You gave birth to all the land
You're the backbone of every man
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
Queen, queen, queen, queen, queen
You wear the crown and you wear it well
I hold my head high so you can tell
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
You're my queen
You're a counsellor, just like grandmas do
You're that voice, you're that push for all I dream and do
So I cherish you, like royalty
And by all means, I'll never put my hands on thee
'Cause you're my queen, queen, queen, queen
Queen, queen, queen, queen, queen (You gave birth)
You gave birth to all the land
You're the backbone of every man
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
Queen, queen, queen, queen, queen
You wear the crown and you wear it well
I hold my head high so you can tell
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
You're my queen
I never want her be rid me
The merest sensitivity
See you're a grown, strong women
And I'm never gonna call you out your name
Yeah man make this and man make that
'Till the end of time, it's a well-known fact
Behind the greatest man is a virtue of a woman
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
Queen, queen, queen, queen, queen
You gave birth to all the land
You're the backbone of every man
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
Queen, queen, queen, queen, queen
You wear the crown and you wear it well
I hold my head high so you can tell
You're my queen, queen, queen, queen
You could be my daughter
You could be my wife
My virtue of a woman
My rock, half guiding light
(You're my queen, queen, queen, queen, queen)
You're the backbone of every man, baby
I won't never, ever call you out your name baby
You're my queen, you're my call

The lyrics to Raheem DeVaughn's song "Queen" are an ode to womanhood and the role of women as nurturers, mothers, and pillars of strength. The song begins with the line "Love came forever", which could be interpreted as the love and support that women provide in every aspect of life. The lyrics describe women as being superwomen, every daughter that becomes a mother, and someone who can be the rock to the highest mountain top. The singer then proclaims that the woman he is addressing is his queen, who gave birth to all the land and is the backbone of every man. He praises her for being a counselor and that voice which pushes him to achieve his dreams, and cherishes her as royalty.
The song ultimately portrays women as the pillars of strength in society, having virtues and qualities that men cannot possess. The lyrics talk about how men can make things, but women are the ones who make them great. The song closes with the singer affirming that the woman he is addressing is his queen and his love, who he would never disrespect by calling her out of her name.
In conclusion, "Queen" is a tribute to womanhood, recognizing the strength, love, support, and nurturing nature of women. The lyrics highlight how women are the unsung heroes that keep society running from behind the scenes, and should be valued and respected.

@JamesWilliams-qy1zj
Raheem has told stories in his first album of how he did women wrong. But like all of us men we must sometimes learn the hard way of how to ultimately treat our black queens the right way.
@ampleNmind
Simply a black women's anthem! The lyrics say it all. Let the song sink in and resonate.
