It's Called: Freefall
Rainbow Kitten Surprise Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Called to the devil and the devil did come
Said to the devil, "Devil do you like drums?
Do you like cigarettes, dominoes, rum?"
He said only, "Sundown, Sundays, Christmas"

Some day's end when I need a few friends
Now and again I could never hope to keep them
Thought to give friends what I thought that they wanted
Never had they needed a good friend as I've been

Don't get me venting on friends who resent you
'Cause all you've ever done is been a noose to hang on to
They thought was a necklace and reckless they fell into hell
Where you both hang with nothing to do but

Scratch, kick, let gravity win like
Fuck this, let gravity win like
You could leave it all behind, even the devil need time alone sometimes
You could let it all go, you could let it all go
It's called freefall
It's called freefall

Called to the devil and the devil said quit
Can't be bothered better handle your shit
Keep about your wits man, keep about your wits
Know yourself and who you came in with
Can I sit down I've been hustling all day
I can't even count how many souls I've made
Off the same deal you on
Remember the devil ain't a friend to no one
But fine, true

Well, you could let it all go, you could let it all go
It's called freefall
It's called freefall

Called to the devil and the devil said, "Hey, why you been calling this late?
It's like 2 A.M. and the bars all close at ten in hell, that's a rule I made"
Anyway, you say you're too busy saving everybody else to save yourself
And you don't want no help, oh well
That's the story to tell

You could let it all go, you could let it all go
It's called freefall
It's called freefall
You could let it all go, you could let it all go
'Cause ain't shit free but falling out
That shit's easy let me show you how, it's like

Ain't shit free but falling out
That shit's easy let me show you how, it's like

Overall Meaning

The song "It's Called: Freefall" by Rainbow Kitten Surprise explores themes of weakness, temptation, and resisting the urge to succumb to our vices. The lyrics follow a conversation between the singer and the devil, where the singer searches for advice on how to handle life's struggles. The devil advises the singer to keep their wits and handle their problems, knowing themselves and who they came in with. The devil acknowledges that even he needs time alone sometimes, as demonstrated in his affinity for sundown, Sundays, and Christmas.

The song then contrasts the devil's advice with the singer's own struggles with friendship and personal demons. The singer vents about friends who resent them, viewing them as a noose rather than a necklace. They realize that they have been trying to give their friends what they thought they wanted, but in reality, they needed a good friend like the singer. The singer contemplates the idea of freefall, letting everything go, and shows a willingness to take that plunge. The song ends with the devil questioning why the singer has called him so late at night, and the singer acknowledging that they don't want help.

The song's message is that sometimes we have to let everything go, embrace freefall, and take a leap of faith. While it may be scary, we need to trust in ourselves to handle what comes next. It highlights the importance of good friends who stick by us and that we should never try to be someone we're not, even for those we care about.

this hits different when you feel like you’re life is falling apart but also coming together in a way that is new & so much better than before, even if you have no idea how everything will look like. new beginnings & endings. you are allowed to let go.

@myszka7682

This was beautifully worded. I'm experiencing this exact thing.

Kind of like a puzzle, really. You start with all these broken pieces lying around, and only a picture of what you want at the end. You have to wait until you find the right pieces to continue, because trying to force things only leads to a mess. But if you keep going, day by day, you'll find that it all comes together quite brilliantly.

Thanks for this sister!

That's so crazy. Been listening to this song here and there for 2 or 3 years. I've been listening to it a lot lately. My life was in absolute turmoil with poverty, death, and everything in between. I just got a nice sum of Money and can fix my house and life and I'm still scared but trying to be hopeful. The pieces are coming together but I'm wary. Thanks for the comment I'm looking at this song a Lil differently now.

RKS is probably my favorite band of all time. Great style, great instrumentation, amazing heart-felt lyrics, amazing vocals from lead and all the backing. Can't get enough. I just wish they would release a new album already. I've been waiting years.
