Milo’s early musical landscape was conflicted. Her mum liked Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, her dad was more into Elvis Costello, while 2pac was the soundtrack in her older sister’s bedroom. The first band Rainy loved were N*E*R*D. She started making music when she was 14. “I had a keyboard which I used to button bash,” she says. “I was into poetry at school. I realized that the poetry mixed with the stuff I was making on the keyboard could become a song.”
From putting up her first track ‘Bout You’ at the age of 15, which became part of Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Bubblers 8 compilation, to self-releasing her much loved Limey EP (her 5 song, streamable EP featuring co-writes and production from Oddisee, Chet Faker, Daje, Eldad Guetta, BLK RSSN, Flowzart, and Cole M.G.N.), Rainy is an artist who steps to her own bounce, wise and smart beyond her years, as demonstrated so expressively in the lines of her songs.

'Til your young
Just remember that your mine
Just remember that your mine
Is cool if you are gone and now
Just remember your mine
Tell you what you need the ways are wrong
Just remember that your mine
Just remember that your mine
Is cool if you are gone but now
Just remember your mine
Tell you what you need the ways are wrong
Let all since but keep me on your side
Zipping honey telling you to be
And all the things I say comes a
Bright green in your eyes
Is cool if you are gone but now
Just remember your mine
Tell you what you need the ways are wrong
Let all since but keep me on your side
The lyrics of Rainy Milo's song "Rats" may appear to be quite cryptic at first, but they contain a deep underlying meaning. The opening lines, "Can't feel the running on your mind / 'Til your young" suggest that the singer is reminiscing about their youth, when they were carefree and oblivious to the complexities of life. The repetition of the line "Just remember that your mine" throughout the song may indicate a possessive or controlling relationship, where the singer wants the listener to always remember that they are in some way theirs.
The singer goes on to say, "Tell you what you need the ways are wrong / Let all since but keep me on your side". This line suggests that the singer believes that they know what is best for the listener, and that their guidance should be followed even if it goes against other people's opinions. The lyrics "Zipping honey telling you to be / And all the things I say comes a / Bright green in your eyes" may mean that the singer is trying to manipulate the listener into becoming who they want them to be, or seeing things from their perspective.
Overall, the song appears to be exploring themes of control, manipulation, and possessiveness. The lyrics highlight the dangers of allowing someone to control your thoughts and feelings, and emphasise the importance of being independent and thinking for oneself.
