Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We nd there people chase
Do whatever it takes
Cause i got my ones with me & we're locking down the city
To live &die in ally
We nd there people chase
Do whatever it takes
Ooo oooo cause i got my ones with me& we're locking down the city
The city is full of danger
And fallen stars only the brave can do it
It makes u who u r
Everday on the wake up!
Better get that cake up
No matter where u go we'r on the radio
Better is the stay ahh
Show em what u made of what r u living for
To live nd die in la
The lyrics of Raja Kumari's song The City imply the dangerous city life of Los Angeles. The phrase โto live and die in (LA)โ is a popular slang that refers to surviving in the tough streets of Los Angeles, where people are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve success. The song is about chasing dreams and making sacrifices to succeed, even if it means risking everything.
The lines โCause I got my ones with me & weโre locking down the cityโ and โOoo oooo cause I got my ones with me& weโre locking down the cityโ suggest that the artist has a group of trustworthy friends who are always with her, and together theyโre taking control of the chaotic city.
The phrase "no matter where u go we'r on the radio" implies that the rapper and her crew are known all over the city and possibly beyond its borders. The artist advises her listeners to show the world what they're made of and what they're living for.
Overall, The City is an anthem for those who aspire to succeed in a city that can be both inspiring and unforgiving.
