Catalino is a carefree person who lives life to the fullest, and his philosophy is simple as crystal. He believes in enjoying life, which includes having debts and living among vines, but he also knows that life has laws that must be followed. Catalino is proud to say that he can fool anyone who doesn't catch him.
The song is divided into two main themes, both of which convey teachings to its listeners. The first theme is reflective of how Catalino views life, which is to enjoy it to the fullest. He endorses living life with debts, known as fiao and enjoying life's little pleasures like being surrounded by the vines (enredadera). However, according to Catalino's philosophy, there are laws to be followed in life, and the first rule of survival is to find something to eat. This statement is metaphorical in the sense that it means we must secure our basic necessities in life before we can indulge in our desires.
