Rancid has had two lineup changes since its inception, with Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman being continuous members. Their current lineup consists of Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums. The band was formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and former drummer Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Steineckert. This lineup recorded their first album, with Frederiksen joining the band on their subsequent tour.
To date, Rancid has released ten studio albums, one split album, one compilation, two extended plays, and a series of live online-only albums, and has been featured on a number of compilation albums. The band has sold over four million records worldwide, making it one of the most successful punk rock groups of all time. The band rose to fame in 1994 with its second studio album, Let's Go, featuring the single "Salvation". In the following year, Rancid released its highly successful album ...And Out Come the Wolves, which produced its best-known songs "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho", and "Time Bomb", and was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA, selling over one million copies in the United States alone. Its next six albums – Life Won't Wait (1998), Rancid (2000), Indestructible (2003), Let the Dominoes Fall (2009), ...Honor Is All We Know (2014) and Trouble Maker (2017) – were also critically acclaimed, though not as commercially successful as ...And Out Come the Wolves. The band released their tenth album, Tomorrow Never Comes, in June 2023.

Show me numbers that I understand
Your my candle Im your burnin wick
Two sides comin' in quick
Say goodbye when you see me sign
Now I'm crucified!
Crucify me
Crucify me
Crucify me
The ground is fertile and the grass is green
So many things to be seen
So many bands to be heard
Just for once can I be ignored?
Say goodbye when you see me sign
Now I'm crucified!
Crucify me
Crucify me
Crucify me
Crucify me
Yeah
He back, cool I say
Oh, gotta get away
No no no no reason for me to stay
But Ill come back another day
Get on the bus and
Hand the guy my money
He tried to say It aint enough, man
I said What the fuck you talkin bout?!
Say goodbye when you see me sign
Now I'm crucified!
Crucify me
Crucify me
Crucify me
Crucify me
Business man come shake my hand
Show me numbers that I understand
Your my candle Im your burnin wick
Two sides comin' two sides comin' so quick
Say goodbye when you see me sign
Now I'm crucified!
Crucify me
Crucify me
Crucify me
Crucify me
Oh, what the papers say
We're caught up in the disarray
Well'd you see their faces when we dropped the bomb?
Haha, Tim, had his pay all along.
The lyrics of "Disorder and Dissarray" by Rancid are about the feeling of being used and manipulated by the business industry. It starts off with a business man trying to impress the singer with numbers and statistics, treating him as nothing more than a candle that can be burned out. The chorus states "Crucify me", meaning that the singer feels as if he is being sacrificed for the sake of the corporation. He mentions that there's so much potential out there, so many things to be seen and heard, but he's never able to get his voice heard. The second verse features him trying to escape from the situation, but he's stopped by the reality that he needs to make a living somehow.
The bridge goes on to talk about society's reaction to the situation - the people in power who aren't affected by it, the people who are caught up in the disarray, and the media that goes along with everything. It ends with a sarcastic remark about someone who always knew what was going to happen, and was paid for it all along.

I love Lars' "angry voice" on this song & elsewhere on this album. He adds a crucial 3rd dimension to Matt's shout-singing & Tim's slurry faux-Brit Joe Strummer-esque & rapid fire vox. It's a just great team effort trading leads, big chorus harmonies & gang shouts to maximize their Rancidity!

I love this song just for that 10 seconds of angry Lars

@Dieter Von Cunth Me too. I listen to this song because that is my favorite part, so much energy there!

@1:56... Good lord I love the verse starting here
@USAlien234
I just had a dream where an acoustic guitar player and a guy holding a drum would walk up and play for you while you ate at a nice restaurant.
I walked passed them to a table in the back as they started playing some kind of song I didn't recognize at first.
While I was still walking to my table, I saw some older lady signing the chorus to this song, to herself quietly. She did it while getting her kid ready to leave the restaurant. Like putting her jacket on her or something. Singing it as if it was a popular song nowadays, and she knew all the words.
I don't know why I thought of this song in my dream thou. I haven't heard it since like highschool. So long ago that I didn't remember the artist was even Rancid. So strange.
I woke up and had to find this song.
