Rancid has had two lineup changes since its inception, with Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman being continuous members. Their current lineup consists of Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums. The band was formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and former drummer Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Steineckert. This lineup recorded their first album, with Frederiksen joining the band on their subsequent tour.
To date, Rancid has released ten studio albums, one split album, one compilation, two extended plays, and a series of live online-only albums, and has been featured on a number of compilation albums. The band has sold over four million records worldwide, making it one of the most successful punk rock groups of all time. The band rose to fame in 1994 with its second studio album, Let's Go, featuring the single "Salvation". In the following year, Rancid released its highly successful album ...And Out Come the Wolves, which produced its best-known songs "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho", and "Time Bomb", and was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA, selling over one million copies in the United States alone. Its next six albums – Life Won't Wait (1998), Rancid (2000), Indestructible (2003), Let the Dominoes Fall (2009), ...Honor Is All We Know (2014) and Trouble Maker (2017) – were also critically acclaimed, though not as commercially successful as ...And Out Come the Wolves. The band released their tenth album, Tomorrow Never Comes, in June 2023.

I'm Not The One
Rancid Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's not a proven fact it's just a feeling
Her old man doesn't own her like he did before
He once was so clear but now he's a blur
I'm not the only one who's not afraid of you
The avenue's the same but the people are changing
Her old man doesn't own her like he did before
He once was so clear but now he's a blur
I'm not the only one who's not afraid of you
The homeless child is no roll she played
It is real as anything the system has made
She's a monument forever standing
Inner city exposer can be extremely demanding
The pattern is circular as we pass the wine
She could no longer live with the lying
Her family tried to control her feelings
It just gave her new life a deeper meaning
Either you shut up or you shut down
I'm not the only one
You motherfucker
I'm not the only one who's not afraid of you
The song "I'm the One" by NOFX tells the story of a woman who has been able to overcome the oppressive control of her old man and has found a new and meaningful life for herself. The lyrics suggest that she has gone through a difficult journey where she has had to stand up for herself and fight against those who tried to control her. The line "She's got her life going she is still breathing, It's not a proven fact it's just a feeling" suggests that despite what may have been said or thought about her, she is still doing well and has a positive outlook on life.
The chorus "I'm not the only one who's not afraid of you" reflects a message of empowerment and strength, as the singer is standing up to whoever is trying to control and intimidate them. The song also touches on the issues faced by homeless children and the challenges of living in the inner city. These themes reflect the punk rock ethos of counterculture and fighting against the system.
In terms of musical style, "I'm the One" features a fast-paced, upbeat punk rock sound with aggressive vocals and energetic guitar riffs. The song is a classic example of NOFX's signature style and has become a fan favorite.
