Rancid has had two lineup changes since its inception, with Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman being continuous members. Their current lineup consists of Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums. The band was formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and former drummer Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Steineckert. This lineup recorded their first album, with Frederiksen joining the band on their subsequent tour.
To date, Rancid has released ten studio albums, one split album, one compilation, two extended plays, and a series of live online-only albums, and has been featured on a number of compilation albums. The band has sold over four million records worldwide, making it one of the most successful punk rock groups of all time. The band rose to fame in 1994 with its second studio album, Let's Go, featuring the single "Salvation". In the following year, Rancid released its highly successful album ...And Out Come the Wolves, which produced its best-known songs "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho", and "Time Bomb", and was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA, selling over one million copies in the United States alone. Its next six albums – Life Won't Wait (1998), Rancid (2000), Indestructible (2003), Let the Dominoes Fall (2009), ...Honor Is All We Know (2014) and Trouble Maker (2017) – were also critically acclaimed, though not as commercially successful as ...And Out Come the Wolves. The band released their tenth album, Tomorrow Never Comes, in June 2023.

Rancid Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Set me free with a bullet and a gun
You said it was nothing
I knew it was something
It was no surprisin' I saw you cryin'
About you
About you
Said you can't go on
About you
Said it's a long time gone
About you
Said your life's too long
Solidarity love and unity
Set me free with a bullet and a gun
Didn't see it coming
Your fears went hunting
Nine millimeter
Stops you running
About you
Now you're long time gone
About you
So what went wrong
Solidarity love and unity
Set me free with a bullet and a gun
The lyrics to Rancid's song "Solidarity" seem to be about the power of unity and how it can lead to liberation. The lines "Solidarity love and unity, set me free with a bullet and a gun" suggest that unity can be a strong force that can overcome even violence and oppression. This is further underscored by the line "Nine millimeter, stops you running" which implies that fear and insecurity can be conquered with togetherness.
The rest of the lyrics are about a past relationship, with the singer addressing their former partner. The lines "Said what went wrong, said you can't go on, said it's a long time gone, said your life's too long" suggest that the person he is talking to is struggling with something, whether it be heartbreak or more serious issues like mental health. The singer seems to be encouraging them to seek out the solidarity and love from others in order to feel free once again.
Overall, the song seems to be a call for people to work together, support each other and find strength in each other in order to overcome challenges and move forward in their lives.

Ninja Saiyan
@Lewis of Aranda no pretty sure let's go is the album name.
Ninja Saiyan
@Nicholas no shit considering tim the person singing owns the label lol. I was merely pointing out that the song was labeled in a way that made it seem like "solidarity" was the album name.
Lewis of Aranda
@Nicholas Factually correct, which is the best kind of correct.
Lewis of Aranda
@Ninja Saiyan Nah, it's just the name of the song.
Nicholas
I’m sure the publishing record label knows the name of the album...
What’s in quotation marks (as is proper) is the name of each song, this one being “Solidarity”. The parenthetical “(Full Album Stream)” indicates that this is but one of the many songs in their posting of the full album.
