Rancid has had two lineup changes since its inception, with Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman being continuous members. Their current lineup consists of Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums. The band was formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and former drummer Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Steineckert. This lineup recorded their first album, with Frederiksen joining the band on their subsequent tour.
To date, Rancid has released ten studio albums, one split album, one compilation, two extended plays, and a series of live online-only albums, and has been featured on a number of compilation albums. The band has sold over four million records worldwide, making it one of the most successful punk rock groups of all time. The band rose to fame in 1994 with its second studio album, Let's Go, featuring the single "Salvation". In the following year, Rancid released its highly successful album ...And Out Come the Wolves, which produced its best-known songs "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho", and "Time Bomb", and was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA, selling over one million copies in the United States alone. Its next six albums – Life Won't Wait (1998), Rancid (2000), Indestructible (2003), Let the Dominoes Fall (2009), ...Honor Is All We Know (2014) and Trouble Maker (2017) – were also critically acclaimed, though not as commercially successful as ...And Out Come the Wolves. The band released their tenth album, Tomorrow Never Comes, in June 2023.

The Moron Brothers
Rancid Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Talkin' bout the moron bros
Tattooed fingers, tattooed toes
They're idiots, they're losers, they're scum
They're taking advantage of everyone
You're a dog, they're your fleas
Drink your beer, take your drugs
It'll leave you with microscopic bugs
They're company's something you won't miss
When your ice trays are filled with piss
Talkin' bout the moron bros
Tattooed fingers, tattooed toes
They'll whine, they'll bitch
They'll fuck you if you're rich
They'll leech, they'll latch
They're like an itch you can't scratch
They are the moron brothers
Don't get along with others
They are the moron brothers
Don't get along with others
They may not go down in history
But they'll go down on your sister
In the song The Moron Brothers by Rancid, the lyrics tell of two individuals, the eponymous brothers, who are portrayed as being everything that anyone would want to avoid. With tattooed fingers and toes, they are described as being losers, scum, and idiots who take advantage of everyone. They are depicted as being like fleas, spreading disease wherever they go, as they drink and take drugs, leaving microscopic bugs in their wake. Not only that, but they are described as being so unpleasant that even their company is not missed when they are gone, with the suggestion that they urinate in their host's ice trays.
The song goes on to further detail the brothers' negative traits, revealing that they will whine, bitch, and even attempt to seduce someone if they think they are wealthy. They are described as being leeches that latch on like an itch that can't be scratched. Despite everything that is said about them, the final line is the most shocking, as it suggests that while they may not be remembered by history, they will still leave a lasting impact by having sexual relations with people close to their victims.
Overall, the song provides a scathing critique of two individuals who embody all of the worst traits that one could possess. The lyrics paint a picture of these individuals as being the kind of people that everyone should avoid, creating a sense of revulsion towards them.

Not sure what you just said, but I actually do play guitar, though that has nothing to do with why the original version of this song is better.
