"Hip hop in its essence is real; I'm still hearing every rhyme."
She is the protégé of Grammy Award-winning producer 9th Wonder, the first lady of North Carolina super crew Kooley High, and one of the first artists signed to Jamla Records/It's A Wonderful World Music Group. As the brainchild of 9th Wonder's true school resurgence, Rapsody consistently sets the bar high for all emcees, male and female alike. Paying homage to her hip hop godmothers MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, and Lauryn Hill, this Snow Hill, North Carolina native represents much more than just the female side of hip hop culture; she is an emcee who represents hip hop culture beyond the lines of gender, proving that anything the boys can do, she can do, too, and better. Her virtuosity and dexterity behind the microphone highlight her presentation, and her humble demeanor attests to her constant pursuit of improvement with every beat and rhyme.
After proving her impeccable craftsmanship with features on 9th Wonder's "Dream Merchant 2," Skyzoo's DJ-Drama hosted "The Power of Words," and numerous Kooley High releases, Rapsody made her solo debut on December 7, 2010 with "Return of the B-Girl," a 20-track project boasting production by 9th Wonder and DJ Premier among others, as well as features from Big Daddy Kane, Mac Miller, Skyzoo, Rah Digga, Phil Ade, and more. A published review praised the record: "A poet-turned-rapper, Rapdiddy (as she's dubbed herself) has always possessed outstanding wordplay, but B-Girl finds her effortlessly nimble delivery -- capable of both gritty and biting or sassy and sultry -- continuing to improve."
Rapsody has shared the stage with hip hop legends and rising stars alike, including Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, J. Cole, Wale, Colin Munroe, Tanya Morgan, Suede of Camp Lo, Blu and Exile, and The Clipse, but it's her ability to captivate diverse audiences with her explosively dynamic live performance that sets her apart and has earned her much-deserved accolades from major media sources including Vibe, XXL, HipHopDX, and more. She has captivated audiences at sold-out performances at dozens of venues on The Incredibly Dope Tour with Mac Miller and the Mic Fest Tour with 9th Wonder and her Jamla Records label mates. In her sophomore project "Thank H.E.R. Now," she weaves more intimate stories of her personal experiences and shares the studio and soundbooth with heavy hitters Jean Grae, MURS, Raekwon, Estelle, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Big K.R.I.T., Marsha Ambrosius, and more.
Her style is polished and distinct, and her wordplay and flow are unparalleled in both delivery and execution. As she continues to strive to contend with her hip hop predecessors like Jay-Z and Mos Def, Rapsody is already undeniably one of the strongest and most promising forces in today's hip hop culture.

Ridin’
Rapsody Lyrics
Ridin'
Tryna survive it
Liquor so dark (dark)
And the club so lit (lit)
And my mind so gone (gone)
And my soul so sick (sick)
Went searching for myself
And I ain't find shit
Ah, shit
Why everywhere I go it turn into some shit
Ridin'
She ridin' (where you goin')
Went searching for myself
And I ain't find shit
Ah shit
Why everywhere I go it turn into some shit
Dark clouds surround you everywhere you go
I know the type
You only attract violent, self esteem issue kinda types
Club wit your children, 5th of liquor and skittiwee
Try to run that game on me but baby you shittin' me
Same hemoglobin, family tree, I know you very well
We all got somebody in our family that we can't save from hell
Pressure, pain, memories of bad thangs you been through
Cried so many tears its surprising you ain't mildewed
Look at me
Can't do it
Know that I'ma see through you
Running wit the funny folk
We know they won't see to ya
Loved ones gon ride wit ya
Don't turn your back on me
Truth hurt, I know it do but, please don't lie to me
Good or bad I'm here for ya, that's what you call family
The world going crazy, it's easy lose to your sanity
Looking for a way out, see you beefing wit des rah rahs
Searching for yourself, I see you nightly when you drive by
This nigga, that nigga, don't matter if they holla
You let 'em in, next thing you gotta another baby Dada
Circling, circling, riding, smoking, ya high too
Tryna find the voice that can tell you where to find you
Went searching for myself
And I ain't find shit
Ah, shit
Why everywhere I go it turn into some shit
Ridin'
She ridin' (where you goin')
Went searching for myself
And I ain't find shit
Ah shit
Everywhere I go it turn into some shit
Brain scattered like showers, I'm losing power
My mind is starting to fuck wit me
Dealing wit lots of feelings, depression becoming publicly
Luckily I'm in line, and be damn if a nigga cuttin' me
Climb a mountain for mo'
No safety, or rush for me
Take a shuttle to space
Space is never enough for me
Peddlin' by the moon they assuming someone abducted me
Judging me by the day, Aliens criticizing
Know why you hate to watch 'cause my timing is hypnotizing
They tell me, shoot for the stars
May need to cop me a rifle
Changing like choir boy on that day he forgot his Bible
Never try to adjust you just fuckin' try to complain
And I try to do not like you, in my view we ain't the same
Monthly collectin' mo' the feelin' how I'm vibin'
Everything for the ones I love got my mind ridin'
Turbulence, hopefully my wings hold
Good wishes and prayers we gon' need those
8:07 PM on the dot
Party 'round the way if you tryna catch a ride
Don't matter what you wear ain't no code for da night
Just hurry up tho, we all tryna slide
Girls in free, boys pay 5
My Back seat full, everybody let's ride
Turn the volume way up high yo, that's jam she spit that "ahhh"
If a cop knock everybody shhh drop
Hide the liquor, we don't wanna get popped
Mr officer is there a problem?
This was a just a small get together
I understand we can help you solve it
No problem, we'll turn down the volume
No problem, we'll turn down the volume
No problem, we'll turn down the volume
Turn it up, up
Turn it up, up
Turn it up, up
Turn it up, up
Turn it up, up
Turn it up, up
Turn it up, up
Turn it up, up
