Peace Of Mind
Rare Bird Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Always standing there in the morning sun
The silent questions turn my eyes
By the light in the distance
And from cloudy skies
You're waiting for someone who gives advice
Yeah you're waiting for the man who tells no lies

You will find peace of mind
Like you never felt before
That you thought you left behind
You will find peace of mind
That will open up the door
That was always closed before
Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind
Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind

Always reaching out for the help you need
The way life takes you here this day
Your happiness is all I seek
But my time is running shorter than ahead
And I hope you make it through safe and yet

You will find peace of mind
Like you never felt before
That you thought you'd left behind
You will find peace of mind
That will open up the door
That was always closed before
Peace of Mind, Ohh Peace of Mind
Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind

Tried to show you what was right or wrong
Remember what the old man used to say
You can find a rhyme, and you can sing along
And I may get back to see you anyway
So I say goodbye and meet another day

You will find Peace of Mind
Like you never felt before
That you thought you'd left behind
You will find Peace of Mind
That will open up the door
That was always closed before
Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind
Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind
Peace of Mind, Peace of Mind

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Rare Bird's song "Peace of Mind" seem to address a person who is looking for guidance, possibly from someone wiser and more experienced. The lines "you're waiting for someone who gives advice, yeah you're waiting for the man who tells no lies" suggest that the person is seeking answers to questions that are troubling them, and they hope to find comfort and certainty in someone else's words. However, the song doesn't offer any clear indication as to who this person might be - whether it's a friend, a family member, or even a spiritual guide. The idea of finding "peace of mind" is repeated throughout the song, as if it is the ultimate goal and something that the person desperately needs.

The chorus is particularly uplifting and encouraging, with the repeated phrase "You will find peace of mind". This seems to offer assurance that the person will eventually find the answers they are seeking, and that their struggles will eventually lead them to a state of inner calm and serenity. The last verse includes a reference to an "old man" who used to give advice and offer wisdom. It's possible that this is a nod to the idea that wisdom and experience come with age, and that the person seeking guidance should look to older and wiser people for answers.

In summary, "Peace of Mind" by Rare Bird is a song that offers hope and reassurance to someone who is struggling with questions and seeking guidance. The lyrics suggest that finding peace of mind is possible, and that the person should keep looking for answers until they find them.

I also played K-SHE all night in my small apartment in Normandy. Radios did not have "sleep" settings then. This was one of my favorites in the early 70's, and I still watch them on YouTube nightly before going to bed. Other classic rock station in St. Louis at the time was KADI. I liked them since they played a clip of Eric Clapton's (instrumental) Layla before each hourly news broadcast. Enjoyable times, and fun to re-live them!

Longtime US fan of Rare Bird. Love these guys. Thoroughly enjoy each of their albums. This is a fine piece. Very keyboard oriented jams in earlier works. Nice keys and guitar work here.

Thank you so much for posting this song. It was always one of my favorite KSHE classics. Ha, I spent all my spare time in my room, listening to the radio with the lights off, full of teen angst. Who knew that at some point in my life I'd be grateful for those days that taught me the importance of music.
