History: Rascal Flatts were founded near Columbus, Ohio. Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus were second cousins from a musical family. DeMarcus's brother-in-law, James Otto, is also a country music artist. DeMarcus moved to Nashville in 1992, earning his first record deal as part of a Christian group called East to West. In 1997, he finally convinced LeVox to leave behind his job with the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and follow his musical dreams as well.
DeMarcus soon joined Chely Wright's band, and there he met Joe Don Rooney. DeMarcus and LeVox were working in a Printer's Alley nightclub, and when their part-time guitarist could not make it one night, DeMarcus invited Rooney to sit in. Eventually, they took the name Rascal Flatts and began performing together, getting signed to Lyric Street Records in late 1999.
The band was recently announced that they have celebrated 10 years of being one of the hottest country bands of the decade. On January 7, 2020, Rascal Flatts announced that they would be disbanding following a farewell tour after twenty years together. However, this farewell tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the group's disbandment was officially confirmed in October 2021.

My arms wrapped around you, took me away
And it got me to thinkin', what we need to do
Is take a Sunday drive, and drive on through
Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday too
Let's disappear, gotta jet out of here
Feel the wind across our face
It's a perfect day to break away
We'll hit Tulsa by Tuesday, follow the stars above
Spend the weekend in Vegas and gamble on sweet, sweet love
It don't matter what we do, as long as I'm with you
Let's disappear, gotta jet out of here
Feel the wind across our face
We'll have some fun, gonna dance on the run
It's a perfect day to break away
Yeah, yeah
Break away
Yeah, yeah
Let's disappear, gotta jet out of here
Feel the wind across our face
We'll have some fun, gonna dance on the run
It's a perfect day to break away
Let's disappear, gotta jet out of here
Feel the wind across our face
We'll have some fun, gonna dance on the run
It's a perfect day...
Girl, it's a perfect day to break away
In Rascal Flatts's song "Break Away," the singer describes waking up with a smile on his face wrapped around his significant other and yearning to escape their daily routines by taking a Sunday drive. They plan to leave their responsibilities behind for a while, embracing the freedom of the open road and spontaneity of wherever it takes them. The lyrics express their desire to explore new places, see the world, and share those experiences with each other. They dream of embarking on a week-long adventure, taking off on Tuesday to explore Tulsa and follow the stars to Las Vegas where they can gamble and enjoy each other's company. The singer concludes that all that matters is being together and creating memorable moments.
Overall, the song expresses the idea of breaking away from the monotony of everyday life and seizing opportunities to have fun and explore new things. The lyrics serve as an encouragement to take risks, to escape from the mundane, to live fully in the moment, and to cherish the people you love.
