History: Rascal Flatts were founded near Columbus, Ohio. Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus were second cousins from a musical family. DeMarcus's brother-in-law, James Otto, is also a country music artist. DeMarcus moved to Nashville in 1992, earning his first record deal as part of a Christian group called East to West. In 1997, he finally convinced LeVox to leave behind his job with the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and follow his musical dreams as well.
DeMarcus soon joined Chely Wright's band, and there he met Joe Don Rooney. DeMarcus and LeVox were working in a Printer's Alley nightclub, and when their part-time guitarist could not make it one night, DeMarcus invited Rooney to sit in. Eventually, they took the name Rascal Flatts and began performing together, getting signed to Lyric Street Records in late 1999.
The band was recently announced that they have celebrated 10 years of being one of the hottest country bands of the decade. On January 7, 2020, Rascal Flatts announced that they would be disbanding following a farewell tour after twenty years together. However, this farewell tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the group's disbandment was officially confirmed in October 2021.

Quit puttin' it off, you know what I'm sayin'
Ain't like it ain't gonna happen, forever's a given
It's already written
Who we kiddin' baby, come on
The stars can't line up any straighter
Let's do it now and think about it later
Why wait another minute
For somethin' we should'a done yesterday?
I know a little church
With a preacher who could hook us up right away
Love don't need a reason
Baby I don't see how I could love you anymore than I do today
So why wait
Now I love your mama, let's save her some trouble
And your daddy won't mind if we save him a bundle
Girl it just so happens, that ring that you wanted
Well guess what, I bought it
It's in my pocket baby, come on
Let's get it done, let's get it on your left hand
This is me, girl, poppin' the question
Why wait another minute
For somethin' we should'a done yesterday?
I know a little church
With a preacher who could hook us up right away
Love don't need a reason
Baby I don't see how I could love you anymore than I do today
So why wait
Let's do something crazy
'Cause crazy's what you make me
Why wait another minute
Wait another minute come on (come on)
Well I know a little church
With a preacher who could hook us up right away
Love don't need a reason
Baby I don't see how I could love you anymore than I do today
So why wait
Why wait
What'aya say girl we do somethin' crazy
The song, "Why Wait" by Rascal Flatts, is a lighthearted and energetic proposal to a loved one, encouraging them to take a leap into the unknown and get married. The lyrics suggest that the couple should not delay their decision to get married, and instead seize the moment and take the leap of faith. The chorus emphasizes this point, suggesting that they should not wait another minute to confess their love and tie the knot, as they should have done it yesterday. The song also highlights the fact that their love does not need any other reason or justification, and that it is strong enough to overcome any obstacle.
The lyrics are filled with lively and humorous imagery, such as the suggestion that they should not delay the proposal to save the girl's mother some trouble, and her father money. The song is primarily designed to convey the joy and excitement that comes with a proposal and the start of a new life together. The chorus itself is catchy and fun, and the song is an excellent representation of modern country music.
