1.) Tinashe Fazakerley (born April 4, 1984), now professionally known as Rationale is a Zimbabwe-born British singer-songwriter, formerly known as Tinashé. He is known for his soulful R&B and indie pop style with electric influences. His alias Tinashé, was known for his synthpop sound and his African influences.
Fazakerley was born in the Harare township of Highfield. At the age of 9, he and his three siblings moved to the United Kingdom in the Camberwell district of London, where his single mother was working as a nurse. Later, at the age of 11, he moved to the London borough of Hackney and music began to play a more significant role in his life as he learned to play the guitar. His influences were varying, ranging from Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Pat Metheny, Donnie Hathaway and Al Green, to Tupac Shakur, A Tribe Called Quest and the Notorious B.I.G.
In 2010, after releasing two EPs and three singles, Fazakerley released the album Saved under the stage name Tinashé, but it had limited success. He took a break from singing and went on to become a songwriter and producer, working with producer Mark Crew, while writing songs for blues artist Rag'n'Bone Man, among others. He also wrote songs for the Swiss version of The Voice talent show.
In 2015, he relaunched his career as Rationale, releasing songs such as "Fast Lane" and "Something for Nothing" on Soundcloud and Spotify. It was on these streaming platforms that he gained notable recognition, with a mention by Pharrell Williams on his Apple Music Beats1 radio show, OTHERtone, calling him someone who had "found the beauty in their voice". This elevated Fast Lane to No. 2 within its first week on the Spotify Global Viral Chart, reached No. 1 on Hype Machine, and amassed more than 1.3 million views on Soundcloud. Rationale also received praise from Justin Timberlake and Elton John. He became one of the first artists to be signed to Dan Smith of Bastille's new record label, Best Laid Plans. His debut self-titled album is due for release in 2017, under exclusive license to Warner Music UK.
2.) Chicago pop-punk allies Dan Lambton (vocals, Real Friends), Joe Taylor and Ryan Rumchaks (guitar/vocals and drums, respectively, of Knuckle Puck) have aligned for rationale. They released their debut ep, "confines" on December 9, 2015.
Fuel to the Fire

Yeah, I bet we'd add fuel to the fire
And yeah, imagine if we had a voice
What would we say, they'd just deny us?
Gone are the days of virtue and honor
Rights that we fought for, burn down the wall
Let it never be said that
Pressure air keeps falling
On my shoulders from high and low
Ain't no justice in these moments
But we'll find comfort when kingdom comes
They are bleeding you
Of every right we've ever earned
Until we have nowhere to turn
They add fuel to the fire
Upon other days of virtue and honor
Rights that we fought for, burn down the wall
Let it never be said that
We truly learned from darker days
Pressure air keeps falling
On my shoulders from high and low
Ain't no justice in these moments
But we'll find comfort when kingdom comes
They are bleeding you, bleeding you
They are bleeding you
They are bleeding you
Bleeding you, bleeding you
They'll all take pleasure
If we go searching
For hand-held justice
That's what they want
So keep on fighting
Keep on striving
We'll all find comfort
When kingdom comes
Pressure air keeps falling
On my shoulders from high and low
Ain't no justice in these moments
But we'll find comfort when kingdom comes (They are, they are bleeding you)
Pressure air keeps falling
On my shoulders from high and low
Ain't no justice in these moments
But we'll find comfort when kingdom comes (They are, they are bleeding you)
Rationale's song "Fuel to the Fire" is a reflection on the state of society and the need for change. The opening verse sets the tone, as the singer imagines what we would do if we had any control over the direction of the world. He suggests that rather than de-escalating conflict, we would only add fuel to the fire. The second verse continues with this idea, lamenting the loss of values like virtue and honor, and suggesting that we have not learned anything from the "darker days" of our history.
Throughout the song, the pressure and weight of the current state of affairs is palpable. The chorus repeats the phrase "They are bleeding you," which feels like an accusation against those in power who are taking advantage of the marginalized and vulnerable. But despite this bleak outlook, there is a glimmer of hope in the idea that we can find comfort in the possibility of a better world, one where justice is actually served. The final verse encourages us to keep fighting, keep striving for change, to find that comfort in the promise of a brighter future.
Overall, "Fuel to the Fire" is a powerful call to action, an urgent plea to wake up and take responsibility for the world we live in.

Imagine if we had a choice
If we had control, we'd only add more conflict
Yeah, I bet we'd add fuel to the fire
We'd exacerbate the situation
And yeah, imagine if we had a voice
If we could speak up, we'd still be silenced
What would we say, they'd just deny us?
Their response would be to reject our message
Gone are the days of virtue and honor
Society no longer values principles or dignity
Rights that we fought for, burn down the wall
Our hard-earned freedoms are being destroyed
Let it never be said that
We should not overlook that
We truly learned from darker days
We haven't actually grown from our past mistakes
Pressure air keeps falling
Oppression weighs down on us
On my shoulders from high and low
It comes from all sides
Ain't no justice in these moments
There's no fairness in current circumstances
But we'll find comfort when kingdom comes
Retribution will bring peace
They are bleeding you
They are draining all of our rights and power
Of every right we've ever earned
They are taking away every one of our deserved freedoms
Until we have nowhere to turn
They are pushing us to a corner with no escape
They add fuel to the fire
They make things worse with their actions
They'll all take pleasure
It's what they enjoy
If we go searching
If we look for retribution
For hand-held justice
For someone else to solve our problems
That's what they want
That's what they intend to happen
So keep on fighting
We must continue the struggle
Keep on striving
We need to keep pushing forward
We'll all find comfort
We'll find peace and comfort
When kingdom comes
When we finally receive the justice we deserve
