[Chorus 1:]
Just cause they think their gorgeous
They put their shorts on just like me,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) put their shorts on just like me.
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) put their shorts on just like me.

Just cause their figures slick, and their legs are long,
Me and my girls too are beautiful,
See we all heard you hatin on,
You just missed the bus we getting on.

[Verse 1:]
I'm a girl, one-hundred percent girl,
This is one to up-lift the one's that I look like.
Not to hurl on nobody else's world,
But it seems like nobody else cares what we feel like.
We love, and like to have fun, but still catch on ya'll sitting on dub (on dub).
It's Saturday night loosing control,
Ain't half of you hardly what the shows gon be like.

[Chorus 2:]
Just cause they think their gorgeous
They put their shorts on just like me,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) put their shorts on just like me.
Just cause they think their gorgeous
They put their shorts on just like me,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) put their shorts on just like me.

Just cause their figures slick, and their legs are long,
Me and my girls too are beautiful,
See we all heard you hatin on,
You just missed the bus we getting on.

[Verse 2:]
They told me that I could be nothing,
If I wasn't something more like a stereotype.
Big buses coming in big trucks,
If you ain't seen the news, then tune into the late night.
We love, and like to have fun, but still catch on ya'll sitting on dub (on dub).
It's Saturday night loosing control,
Ain't half of you hardly what the shows gon be like.

[Chorus 3:]
Just cause they think their gorgeous
They put their shorts on just like me,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) put their shorts on just like me.
Just cause they think their gorgeous
They put their shorts on just like me,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) put their shorts on just like me.

Just cause their figures slick, and their legs are long,
Me and my girls too are beautiful,
See we all heard you hatin on,
You just missed the bus we getting on.

[Bridge: some singing with Jamaican vibe]

[Chorus 4:]
Just cause they think their gorgeous
They put their shorts on just like me,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) put their shorts on just like me.
Just cause they think their gorgeous
They put their shorts on just like me,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) what they do,
(mmhmm) put their shorts on just like me.

Just cause their figures slick, and their legs are long,
Me and my girls too are beautiful,
See we all heard you hatin on,
You just missed the bus we getting on

Overall Meaning

In Raven-Symoné's song "Shorts Like Me," she addresses the issue of how society values certain physical attributes over others. The chorus repeats the message that even though others may think they are more beautiful or better than her, they still put their shorts on just like her. She acknowledges that she and her friends may not fit the traditional standard of beauty with long legs and a slick figure but that does not mean they are not beautiful. In the first verse, she explains that this song is meant to uplift other girls who may feel like they do not fit into society's narrow definition of beauty. She also notes that others may be sitting on the sidelines judging them, but they are still out having fun on a Saturday night. In the second verse, she addresses the pressure she may have felt to conform to stereotypes in order to be successful and overcome the discrimination she faced.

Overall, the song is a confident and empowering anthem for any girl who has ever struggled with feeling accepted in a society where beauty standards are often limiting and unrealistic.
