I always used a moist Qtip to soften the boogies if they didn't want to let go.
Made the extraction much easier.
I didn't push it up in the passage,just swabbed around the edges til it loosened up.

Oh GAWD this gave me flashbacks! My daughter went thru a phase where she would stick stuff up her nose and 1 day, she was saying her nose hurt and I had to go try to pick it out and saw this flesh colored glob and absolutely my mind thinking that SOMEHOW she had injured herself enough that her brain or sinus tissue was coming out of her nose. It was a Totino's pepperoni chunk. I just CANNOT with baby boogies anymore😑😫🤢😂

My daughter had a hair bead stuck in her nostril. She did it at daycare and I guess they didn’t notice. When I picked her up I noticed her nostril was red and a little swollen. She wasn’t feeling well and fell asleep on my lap, she must’ve been trying to get it out herself(she was 3). While lying on my lap she sleeping so deep this whistle was coming from this nostril I tried twice to get it, each time she jumped awake before I even touched her, so third time I turned onto her back closed beadless nostril and blew one short quick breath the bead flew out, put cold compresses on her nose off and on for a couple hours, by morning her cute little noses was right as rain, got her to daycare and told her teacher and owner who was my cousin what happened and that they need to pay closer attention to the kids.

When that happens to my toddler, I give him a shower so the steams helps soften up the boogers. He hates it when I use saline drops on him. So I feel this is a better option. And Now he’s old enough that I can just tell him to “blow” and he will blow them out on his own! 🤧😅

Too many people misunderstood how to use those devices. You can’t hold both of the child’s nostrils shut and release the bulb at the same time. That little amount of vacuum is enough to rupture the eardrums. THAT is painful and hard to recover from.

But back in our day of parenting, it is exactly what we did. I guess we were smarter parents, eh?

Q-tips, works best and you must wet it then use the dry end. Using tweezers could scratch or damage inside of their nose if you’re not careful.
