Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ray Charles's song, "I Can Make It Thru The Days," depicts a person's deep feeling of loneliness in his lover's absence. The singer misses his lover so much that he spends his time wondering about where she is and who she is with. He is in so much pain that he can't sleep and finds it difficult to be alone. The singer asks his lover to help him through the lonely nights and describes how he can make it through the day, but the nights are unbearable without her. He explains how nothing can take her place and how he desperately needs her sweet touch to make it through the night. The song is a reflection of the deep love between two people and how the absence of one can make the other suffer immense loneliness.
