Yesterday
Ray Charles Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be.

There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she had to go, I don't know,
She wouldn't say.

I said something wrong,
Now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.

Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she had to go, I don't know,
She wouldn't say.
I said something wrong,

Now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.

Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Great version of this song, as well as Eleanor Rigby, done by the legendary. I recall in my music class at school, one of my classmates, asked me to play on piano, Eleanor Rigby, since he was familiar with our choir piece but instead I played Yesterday and our teacher, sang along to it, " what a gorgeous piece, this is." She said.

There are literally over 600 different versions of this song, as it is the most covered song in the history of popular music. But this has always been my favorite.
