You got me so I don't know what I'm doin' now
Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I can't sleep at night
Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I don't know what I'm doin' now
Oh yeah, you really got me now
You really got me
You really got me
You really got me
See, don't ever set me free
I always want to be by your side
Girl, you really got me now
You got me so I can't sleep at night
Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I don't know what I'm doin' now
Oh yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I can't sleep at night
You really got me
You really got me
You really got me
Oh no
See, don't ever set me free
I always want to be by your side
Girl, you really got me now
You got me so I can't sleep at night
Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I don't know what I'm doin' now
Oh yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I can't sleep at night
You really got me
You really got me
You really got me
Ray Davies’s song You Really Got Me is an iconic love song that describes the experience of being deeply infatuated with someone. The song’s lyrics show the singer’s helpless state after a girl has caught his attention. The lyrics start with “Girl, you really got me goin' / You got me so I don't know what I'm doin' now.” These lines suggest that the girl has such a hold on him that he is unable to think straight and is completely overwhelmed by his emotions.
The lyrics in the chorus repeat the phrase “Yeah, you really got me now / You got me so I can't sleep at night” multiple times. This repetition shows the intensity of the feeling and how it is affecting the singer’s daily life. The lines “See, don't ever set me free / I always want to be by your side” express the overwhelming desire to be with the girl and never let her go.
Overall, You Really Got Me is an emotional and personal expression of love and longing that has resonated with listeners for decades. It embodies the universal feeling of being completely consumed by a person, and the lyrics reflect an emotional connection that can’t be broken.
