Razorlight is a four-piece consisting of Borrell (vocals & guitar), Björn Ågren (guitar), Carl Dalemo (bass) and Andy Burrows (drums)
Their debut album, Up All Night, was released on June 28, 2004, reaching number 3 in the UK album charts on 4 July. The critical reception was generally good, receiving good reviews from NME, Q magazine and Billboard, although they were also accused of lack of imagination and unoriginality for allegedly borrowing ideas from other influential bands, notably The Strokes. They appear to polarize opinion. NME wrote that the album: "bristles with passion, energy and, most importantly, amazing songs", while they were described elsewhere as "nearly everything wrong with rock and roll today". Their fans, though, embrace the music for its simple melodies and multi-layered, easy-going compositions.
Frontman Johnny Borrell caused some controversy and surprise when he likened himself to musical legend Bob Dylan, quipping "If Dylan's making the chips then I'm drinking the champagne". This led to suggestions of self-promotion. This statement was taken out of context however as Borrell was comparing his and Dylan's first albums, not their overall career. The band became very popular on the London music scene when they arrived earlier in the year. Large demand caused the band to play extra shows, including a 7,000+ capacity gig at Alexandra Palace. The album was heavily marketed in the UK.

And then I found out it was just nothing at all
You always say, "It's such a big deal"
But we both know that that's nothing at all
And I'll get over the breaks
And I'll stumble and fall
And I'll get over the breaks
You just won't admit that it's all in your hands
So I have to try so hard to make you understand
But all you can say is
"It's just part of the deal"
And I never asked you to understand
How I keep myself to myself in the crush of the crowd
But all you can say is
"Who cares? It's just part of the deal"
Oh yeah and I'll, yes I get over the breaks
And I'll stumble and fall
And I'll get over the breaks
And sometimes I stumble and fall, yes I
Say yes, say yes
Say yes say no
Well I, I get over the breaks
And I'll stumble and fall
And I'll get over the breaks
And I'll stumble and fall
Yes, I fall
Yes, I fall
I'll stumble and fall
The lyrics of Razorlight's "Stumble and Fall" are about the struggle to deal with the ups and downs in life, especially those resulting from failed relationships. The opening lines suggest that there is a sense of overreaction towards situations, as the singer thought it was a big deal but later found out it was nothing at all. However, the repeated phrase "it's just part of the deal" shows that there is an acceptance of the trials that come with life. Yet despite the understanding that failure and disappointment are a part of life, the singer struggles to navigate these challenges alone.
The second verse suggests that the singer is attempting to communicate with someone who is unwilling to listen or understand them. The line "you just won't admit that it's all in your hands" suggests a level of frustration with the lack of accountability on the other person's part. The repeating of "it's just part of the deal" shows a lack of empathy and understanding from the other person's perspective. The final line "I'll stumble and fall" shows the singer's acceptance that despite the lack of support from others, they will continue to move forward and overcome their obstacles.
Overall, the lyrics of "Stumble and Fall" depict the idea that life is full of challenges, but it is important to keep pushing through and staying resilient, even in the face of defeat.
