Julia
Rea; Chris Lyrics

Make you feel so strange
Somewhere deep inside
It's the face of an angel
Soul of the devil may care
How I'd love to know
What goes on in there
She needs your love
She needs it every day
But speak of love
See her laugh and run away
Julia, which way will you go
Julia, I want to know
Julia, only the moon and stars
Julia, know just where you are
Julia
See the dance that needs no alibi
Oh you don't need to dream
When you know you can fly
She needs your love
She needs it every day
But speak of love
See her laugh and run away
Julia, which way will you go
Julia, I want to know
Julia, only the moon and stars
Julia, know just where you are
Julia
The song "Julia" by Chris Rea is a ballad that captures the essence of a woman who eludes understanding. The lyrics describe her as having bright, big, and wide eyes that make one feel strange deep inside. Her face is that of an angel, but her soul is carefree like that of a devil's. The singer sings of his desire to understand what goes on in her head, a feeling many can relate to when trying to understand someone they are romantically interested in. The song captures the essence of a person who is hard to read but irresistible at the same time.
Throughout the song, the singer reiterates how Julia needs love, but whenever he speaks of it, she laughs and runs away. This portrays Julia's evasive nature when it comes to love, and it adds more mystery to her character. The lyrics suggest that despite her reluctance to commit, the singer cannot help but be fascinated by her.
The chorus of "Julia" highlights the theme of the song, which is encapsulated in the question: Which way will Julia go? The singer wants to know what the future holds for Julia and if she will stick around or fly away like the dance that needs no alibi. The song paints a picture of someone who is hard to predict, and it leaves the listener with an open-ended question that can only be speculated upon.

My wonderful Great Grandmother's name was Julia. I was so fond of her. Every time I hear this song (which I love), I think of her. She passed away in 1996, at the great age off 100 years! It was an honour for me to have Julia as a Great Grandmother.
