I'm your sinner, gather 'round
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
All the sinners I have found
A land where the will forever run free
Come you sinners, just follow me
Forget your troubles and just get happy
Sing Hallelujah, c'mon get happy
Get ready for the judgement day!
The sun is shinin', c'mon get happy
The Lord is waiting to take your hand
Shout Hallelujah, c'mon get happy
We're goin' to the Promised Land!
We're headin' 'cross the river
Wash our sins away in the tide
It's all so peaceful, on the other side
Forget your troubles and just get happy
You better chase all your cares away
Sing Hallelujah, c'mon get happy
Get ready for the judgment day!
We're headin' across the river
Wash our sins away in the tide
It's all so peaceful, on the other side
Forget your troubles and just get happy
You better chase all your cares away
Sing Hallelujah, c'mon get happy
Get ready for the judgment day!
Sing Hallelujah
Sing Hallelujah
Sing Hallelujah
Sing Hallelujah, c'mon get happy
C'mon c'mon get happy
C'mon c'mon get happy
Someone is waiting to take your hand
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
You better chase all your cares away
The lyrics of Rebecca Ferguson’s “Get Happy” have a strong spiritual theme running throughout. The song appears to be calling on sinners to come together and follow towards a promised land where they will be free. The repetition of the word ‘Hallelujah’ seems to suggest that this is a religious pilgrimage of sorts. There is a sense of urgency in the song as it talks about the judgment day and washing sins away in the tide.
The song is a call to forget one’s troubles and be happy regardless of the situation. The lyrics encourage sinners to chase away all their cares and instead focus on singing ‘Hallelujah’. This appears to be a call for forgiveness and an acceptance of one’s past mistakes. The idea of washing sins away and starting anew seems to be a prominent theme in this song.
Overall, the song seems to be a call for spiritual healing and acceptance. The repetition of the word ‘Hallelujah’ reinforces this idea of praising God and seeking redemption. The song also encourages people to be happy regardless of their circumstances, as there is always a chance for redemption and a promised land waiting for those who seek it.
