The first RTR demos were recorded on a $10 hand recorder, and, out of curiousity to see how well the songs would do, were posted on a small, unknown MySpace music profile. Slowly, people began to take notice, and soon the profile began to fill with plays and friend requests. Inspired, Jon began to write even more songs, and soon enough found himself in the recording studio, laying down tracks for what would soon become Reboot The Robot's debut EP "Nothing, Something, Everything".
Many studio hours and a few hundred bucks later, "Nothing, Something, Everything" was released to online retailers on July 14th, 2009, to overwhelmingly positive reviews and praise. Fans reacted well to the album, and soon there was demand for another EP release. Digging through older, unfinished songs as well as new ones, the framework was laid for what would become Reboot The Robot's sophomore effort, "When All We Have".
Recorded at Blind Dog Audio in Longmont, CO, and produced by Kevin King, "When All We Have" has become a hit among fans since its release on December 1st, 2009. The EP spawned many new fan-favorite tracks, including "Deception Is What The World Calls Romance" and "Not Giving In". As an added bonus, fans that purchase "When All We Have" on RTRmusic.com will also receive 2 free Reboot The Robot Buttons, as well a free signing of the EP.
Currently, Reboot The Robot is taking off time from writing new music to focus on an untitled covers album. This new covers album has a tenative release for summer 2010. A full band debut is targeted for a late fall/winter 2010 release.
The One You Want
Reboot The Robot Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Take it as you will.
I have emotions
That you'll never feel.
I am courageous.
I don't care what you say.
Yeah I'm too independant.
You never mattered anyway.
But I've tried
I really do
Yeah I've tried
Tried to tell you.
That I'm not the one you want.
No I'll never be
The one that you want
I am hard headed.
I always have to be told.
I am honest
And incredibly bold.
Hardly sympathertic,
I only care about myself.
Barely apologetic,
I keep my heart on a shelf.
Last time: So take it from me.
The lyrics to Reboot The Robot's song The One You Want speak to the idea of being true to oneself and not changing who you are for someone else's approval. The first verse suggests that the singer is old-fashioned in their thinking and emotional depth, perhaps implying that they are not interested in playing games or conforming to modern dating norms. They also assert their independence and courage, suggesting that they are not afraid to be different from others or to stand up for what they believe in. The chorus, however, reveals that despite all of this, the singer knows they're not the one the other person wants, indicating perhaps that the object of their affection desires someone who fits a more traditional mold or who is more willing to compromise their own values.
The second verse further reinforces the singer's strong personal sense of self, highlighting their honesty and boldness, even if it means they may not be the easiest to get along with. They are unapologetic for being who they are and they make no apologies for keeping their heart guarded. In the final line, the singer seems to offer some sort of advice or warning to the other person, suggesting that they should take the singer's words to heart, though it is left up to interpretation what exactly that means.
Overall, the message of The One You Want appears to be one of acceptance and self-love, reminding listeners that even if someone else doesn't want them, they are still valuable and deserving of respect. The song encourages listeners to stay true to themselves and not compromise their values for someone else's sake, even if it means they may not end up with the person they desire.

I am just absolutely ASTONISHED that Reboot doesn't have a larger following.. More talent in a finger than most any mainstream artist of the last ten years at LEAST keep it up! I wish I could find legitimate tablature but I suppose I'm just stuck picking these chords out one string at a time.
