1) Recover comes to us from Austin, TX. Started by four young childhood friends as a Green Day cover band, the reclusive set eventually found a sound of their own that defies today’s incessant need for sub-categories. If you can’t resist, Recover is a rock band, pure and simple.
After releasing their first full length “Rodeo and Picasso” in 2001 on indie Fueled By Ramen, at an average age of just 18, Recover was approached to release an EP with another indie, Fiddler, later that year. 'Ceci N'est Pas Recover' was recorded in 2002, with producer Brian McTernan, at Salad Days studio in Beltsville, Maryland. Slowly pulling out an evolved sound, Recover found their voice and set their sights on touring. Their raucous live show and strong original songwriting quickly made them a bands’ band leading to a slew of great touring partners. They hit the road relentlessly for two years with peers including Jimmy Eat World, A.F.I., Taking Back Sunday, Coheed & Cambria, Thrice, Thursday and many others. After signing with Strummer/Universal records the band spent the second part of 2003 writing and recording their major label debut due out in the fall of 2004. Recorded by hometown friend and confidant ‘5th member’ Rory Phillips and mixed by the legendary Andy Wallace, the album combines the raw emotion and experimental musicianship that encompasses the ‘best of’ their previous two efforts.
In early 2009, the band announced that they have officially reunited and that their first show back will be at the Chain Reaction.
2) Recover is also a Hardcore band from Singapore. Their S/T album is the second full length from this old Singaporean band. This full length retains the old school hardcore sound with plenty of breakdowns, sing alongs, fingerpoints and mosh parts with a slight metallic feel. The production is superb but not overly done. Lyrics deal with socio politcal issues like the Bush administration, the UN, IMF and more. Comes in a tri fold digipack. A classic.
3) Recover is a currently unsigned rock band based in County Carlow, Ireland. The four members are originally from Co. Carlow, Co. Wicklow, Co. Dublin and Turkey. The band began in 2008. Recover play covers as well as a handful of original songs.
Elimination
Recover Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What is justified,
Who are you
To say I've lost touch?
Pick and pull me apart.
To your fuckin' dismay
I will dismember you.
You're seeking false approvals,
Now face what you've become.
Remember how you started
And where you came from.
The song Elimination by Recover starts with a confronting question of 'Who are you to say I've lost touch?'. This question is a challenge to the individual who is trying to determine what is justified. The individual is being told that they do not have the right to determine someone's worth and whether or not they are disconnected from their roots. The singer of the song then urges the other to try and dissect them, thinking that the person in question can't handle the truth that the singer is not going to be easily broken down.
The second verse of the song takes a detour from the direct challenge in the first verse and addresses the inherent issue of seeking validation from others. The singer of the song highlights how the other person is seeking approval from people who don't matter and who may not have their best interests at heart. The sense of social disconnect is highlighted by calling out the other person's actions and behavior, which then leads to the ultimate conclusion and realization on the other person's part.
In conclusion, the song is not only about challenging an individual but also about recognizing when we look to others for validation, be it a friend or a stranger. It challenges us to not get swept up in social pressures and to remember where we come from.

So now you decide
It's up to you to make a choice.
What is justified,
What is deemed acceptable.
Who are you
What makes you qualified.
To say I've lost touch?
To claim that I'm out of line?
Pick and pull me apart.
Tear me apart until there's nothing left of me.
To your fuckin' dismay
Much to your disappointment.
I will dismember you.
I will destroy you completely.
You're seeking false approvals,
You're searching for fake validation.
Now face what you've become.

Remember how you started
Recall how you began.
And where you came from.
And the path that brought you to this point.
