Happiness
Red Dons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Gotta give up on this feeling
It’s frustrating how easily you’re coerced
Into fits of anger
Daniel laughs he knows I’ve said a mouthful

Even as we laugh we can’t escape the feeling
That we’re falling down, falling down
It was a much shorter trip than I expected

Laughing at ourselves as we amount to nothing
Life is pretty hard but there is one thing that’s sure
The falling apart is easy
Fall apart now

Happiness comes when you get to the point
Of giving up hope of escaping the second class coach

Overall Meaning

The song "Happiness" by Red Dons portrays giving in to a feeling of failure or disappointment. The singer expresses their frustration with easily being coerced into fits of anger and how it contributes to their overall sense of falling down. Even amidst laughter, this feeling still persists, and the length of the journey to this point of unhappiness is shorter than expected. They laugh at themselves as they amount to nothing, recognizing that the falling apart is easy. The song concludes with a note of bleak acceptance, that happiness comes from giving up on hope to escape the second class coach.

Overall, the song presents a sense of defeat and a lack of control in life. The feelings of falling down and giving in to anger are easy and effortless, while happiness is only attainable through a surrender to one's situation. The lyrics are relatable to anyone who has struggled to maintain a sense of control or positivity in their life, and the harsh reality of the lyrics is balanced by the upbeat melody of the song.

Wow, does anybody know a band wich has the sound and energy of this album? I realy adore the melancholic yet uplifting vocal arrangements and the melodic yet energetic and punkish instrumentation. The very lifely drumming is great aswell.
