Red Flag made the top 10 Billboard charts in 1988 with their memorable song Russian Radio. The next year Red Flag's debut album, Naive Art, released by Enigma Records, earned them another top 10 single on the Billboard Dance chart with "If I Ever". MTV put Red Flag's video, Russian Radio, in rotation later that year. Touring extensively, Red Flag played with acts Devo, Thomas Dolby, and Book of Love. They appeared on the TV show American Bandstand where they performed Russian Radio.
Since then, Red Flag released 11 albums, 14 CD singles, two box sets and appeared on numerous compilations. Their music has been featured on MTV reality shows. The band has played concerts around the world in the U.S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, and South America.

Curtains
Red Flag Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's curtains, curtains
I feel alive or couldn't you tell
It's curtains, curtains
I feel the beat under my feet
Take me, make me alive
Makes me feel alive
Another moment gone
Emotions high, beginning to soar
It's curtains, curtains
Take a pause before the encore
It's curtains, curtains
I feel the flame, a temptress called fame
Take me, make me alive
Makes me feel alive
If only for one moment
Another moment gone
I hope it won't be the last I hope we carry on
Alive, make me alive
If only for one moment
The Red Flag's song "Curtains" starts with the singer stating how the crowd is growing exponentially as the show proceeds, which gives the feeling of being alive. The word "curtains" is repeated throughout the song and is used as a metaphor for closing the act. The singer is not only referring to bringing a close to the concert itself but also for the time spent with the fans who have come to watch them. It is as if everyone in the crowd is feeling alive and that it's all coming to an end. The singer wants them to forget their worries and absorb themselves in the moment.
The next couple of stanzas explain how the singer is getting a high from the crowd and how the beat under their feet is making them feel more alive. They are not only absorbing the energy from the crowd but also feeling like this moment will last forever. But the moment has to end, and so the singer urges the crowd to take a pause before the encore, and the curtains fall one last time.
The third stanza talks about fame as a flame, and the audience becomes a temptress to it. The fame and attention that come from performing can be quite tempting and addictive. By the end of the song, the singer wants to feel alive, hoping that it won't be the last time they perform and that there are still many more moments to come.
