Red Flag made the top 10 Billboard charts in 1988 with their memorable song Russian Radio. The next year Red Flag's debut album, Naive Art, released by Enigma Records, earned them another top 10 single on the Billboard Dance chart with "If I Ever". MTV put Red Flag's video, Russian Radio, in rotation later that year. Touring extensively, Red Flag played with acts Devo, Thomas Dolby, and Book of Love. They appeared on the TV show American Bandstand where they performed Russian Radio.
Since then, Red Flag released 11 albums, 14 CD singles, two box sets and appeared on numerous compilations. Their music has been featured on MTV reality shows. The band has played concerts around the world in the U.S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, and South America.

The lyrics of Red Flag’s song “Shadow Warrior” speak to the inner battle that one may face when trying to forge their own path in a world that may not necessarily be built for them. The song talks about being a rogue amongst the mortal and sympathizing with the free. The singer acknowledges the dawning of a new age and being at the edge of eternity. The listener is then reminded that they are a lone survivor, the last omega man, and a warrior. In this, the song speaks to the idea of being different from the norm, difficult times, and the strength it takes to push through it all.
The chorus then kicks in with the word “Shadow” being repeated multiple times. It seems that the word Shadow may be the singer’s name or the name of the person they’re speaking to. The chorus goes on to say that the person being spoken to must remember the past, specifically that they were the only one who lasted. There is an acknowledgement that reason may paint the blame on this person, but it is also recognized that they were the only one who ever knew the singer’s name.
