As long as I live, if it be one hour
Or if it be one hundred years
I'll keep rememberin', for-ever and e-ver
I'll love you dear, as long as I live.
It was easy said, that night we part ed
That we'd forget, we'd ever met
Or if your heart, is full of re- gret.
[Chorus]
I never thought, that night we parted
That life without you, would be this bad
It may sound funny, but I can't forget you
The only happiness, I've ever had.
The lyrics to the song "As Long As I Live" express the unending love that the singer has for their lost love. The chorus conveys the idea that the love they share will last forever, no matter how much time passes. They promise to keep loving their partner, even if it is just for another hour, or for a hundred more years. The use of repetition in the chorus reinforces the idea that the feeling of love will never fade away.
In the verses, the singer expresses their doubts about their lost love forgetting them, revealing their own inability to forget the person they love. They admit that life without their partner has been unbearable and that the happiness that they once shared was the only happiness they ever knew. The contrasting emotions of hope and despair, love and loss, are vividly portrayed through the lyrics of the song.
The imagery in the song is particularly powerful in capturing the sentiment of eternal love, in lines such as "I'll keep rememberin', for-ever and e-ver" and "I wonder if your heart is full of regret". The song is a poignant reminder of the power of love and the impact it can have on our lives.

A classic of country music, so natural in the days when it was first heard and remains so today. These two are natural singers of the music, nothing acquired, nothing imitated. A treat!
