This permanent four-piece from Graz / Austria started of as a punk/hardcore band in 1997 and soon realised that it should be more about than just playing songs that you have probably heard too many times before. They definitely listened in music class: Experimenting with varied dynamics and tempos, using effective silences as well as 3 different voice-characters, fast-driven guitars and excellent drums, they managed to accompany meaningful messages with groundbreaking music full of passion and anger.
In 1999, Red Lights Flash released their debut album "Stop When..." on the vienna based punk label Remedy Records, followed by several shows in Austria and the first touring experiences in Europe. With "And Time Goes By", the second full-length in 2002, the band gained the opportunity to release on Householdname Records of London.
This led Red Lights Flash to three European tours and five UK tours including tour supports for Anti-Flag, Capdown and Good Clean Fun as well as several support slots for bands like Good Riddance, As Friends Rust, Propagandhi, Strike Anywhere, Leftover Crack, Ensign, Union13, Hundred Reasons, Intensity, Grade, Int. Noise Conspiracy, Down By Law, 59 Times The Pain, Dropkick Murphys, Satanic Surfers, Such A Surge, Carthasis, All Systems Go!, Donots, Dillinger4, A.F.I., Strung Out, Diesel Boy, Agnostic Front, The Start and many more. Enlarging this list with numerousness weekend and headlining shows outshined by the official Air and Style - Contest Aftershowparty and several festival appearances like Sziget, Primsrock or Donauinsel Festival to name but a few, they have gathered around 450 little stories of raw, sweating and energetic punkrock experiences.
2004 saw Red Lights Flash releasing their third studio long player "Free" worldwide due to getting sensationally signed by the Anti-Flag owned label A.F. Records from Pittsburgh, PA, USA as a result of doing the really successful Anti-Flag Tour Support.
A copious Release-Tour throughout Europe, a tour alongside Rise Against and Alexisonfire and their first headline tour throughout Spain and Portugal followed. "Free" is still getting consistently terrific response and reviews worldwide topped by the track "Past Soul" being number ..1 for 6 weeks in German Resistance Charts and the video to the song "Time The Lights Went Out" getting sensationally airplayed on German Music TV station VivaPlus.
In October 2010 the band announced (on their website http://www.redlightsflash.com) that they would split.

Layer upon layer
They steady grow
By human hands
In order to our demands
Automatized from here to there
It doesn't matter, just anywhere...
As I couldn't get enough sleep I'm glazing around
Than to the things around
Caught in our sovereign entity,
Accompanied by constant deep
Humming sound
Blaring to my ears
Just rolling
With the windows turned to screens!
Just showing, showing
Still-life in a floating stream!
I'm following
This blur is leading me!
This is hollowing, hollowing
(leads me) into zero gravity
(And) it seems to be quite obvious
That I've fallen victim to a dream!
And it says,
"You'd rather take matters into your own hands!
You'd rather take matters into your hands!"
And suddenly these flash-lights are reviving me
I'm recapturing the steering wheel
Suddenly,
With those flash-lights in front of my eyes
I saved mine, I saved yours, and I saved everybody's life!
Just rolling
With the windows turned to screens!
Just showing, showing
Still-life in a floating stream!
I'm following
This blur is leading me!
This is hollowing, hollowing
(leads me) into zero gravity
The lyrics of Red Lights Flash's song Snapshot depict the impact of human progress on the natural world. The opening lines describe the construction of roads on the earth's surface, which are continuously expanding in response to human needs. It is said that these roads are laid layer upon layer, with the aim of meeting the demands of human society. The lyrics observe how the world has become so automatized that it doesn't matter where they are built; all that matters is that they get built.
The song seems to suggest a feeling of detachment from the world and a lack of connection to reality. The lyrics communicate a sense of loneliness and disorientation, as the singer seems to be lost in a world he doesn't understand. The lyrics describe how the singer is "glazing around" and is more focused on his inner thoughts than on the outside world. He feels caught in a "sovereign entity," perhaps referring to the confinement of modern society, and this is accompanied by a constant humming sound that is blaring to his ears. The singer feels a sense of helplessness, and there is a suggestion that society is leading him astray.
However, in the final verse, there is a sense of redemption. The singer seems to have regained his senses and is back in control of his life. Flashing lights have brought him back to reality, and he has recaptured the steering wheel. The mention of "zero gravity" suggests a feeling of weightlessness and release from the constraints of modern life. The lyrics of Snapshot communicate a complex message about the intersection of human progress and the natural world, and the individual's struggle to find meaning and purpose in a society that seems to be leading them astray.

You'd rather take matters into your hands!"
You should act independently"
And suddenly these flash-lights are reviving me
Flashes of light wake me up
I'm recapturing the steering wheel
I'm taking back control
Suddenly,
Abruptly
With those flash-lights in front of my eyes
Blinded by the sudden lights
I saved mine, I saved yours, and I saved everybody's life!
I prevented a potential accident and saved many lives
