After learning to play some instruments and a name change to Red Zebra, they debut with a self-produced, self-written and self-sold EP.
This EP includes the song "I can't live in a living room". This biting indictment of bourgeois society became a radio-hit and is considered one of Belgium's finest cult classics.
In 2000, the band was celebrating the 20th anniversary of the legendary song, with a special 2-hour performance in front of a seated audience in the Stadsschouwburg of their hometown Bruges (October 28th). This performance was also captured on CD, and released on the Belgian Parsifal label in 2001 with the title "Last Band Standing". On it, there were 13 new interpretations of the songs that made their fame.

The Belgians just did it seemingly so effortlessly and looked so cool too without trying too hard. Natural bohemians. Me and my Nan were helped off an escalator by some of Red Zebra when I went to stay with my Nan in Brussells 1976/77 We went shopping at City 2, the first mall built in Europe. We were both a little scared as no one had really seen punks like that before, black tight leather jeans, dinner jkts, died spikey hair and smudged eye liner. They were all gathered at the bottom of the travelator on either side. I was only 11 and my Nan in her 60s with shopping they carried for my Nan to the tram, chatting with us and joking. .just so cool. I was immediately hooked with an enquiring mind after that and London was still quite tame by comparison. The best ever. I bought Joy Divisions Warsaw a few years later and then discovered Red Zebra at the same time realizing who those guys were with huge pride being half Belgian myself.

@kylej8135
great sounding new wave / post punk. Man alive... Post punk / new wave of the late 70's thru the 80's is the best! The sound from this era of music simply can NOT be replicated. Great stuff. Thank you for preserving & posting for everyone to enjoy!!

An album title track that Is really stupendous,i think It Is the best Song ever realised by this brilliant outfit from Brugge. It strongly expresses the nervous atmosphere of the early 80's,you Hear in It an extraordinary blend of killing joker,post Joy division,those days King Crimson,and much more..Perhaps the other 4 tracks are a Little less convincing,and more ordinary.
