1) Redemption is at the forefront of the US progressive metal scene. Founded by guitarist / songwriter Nick Van Dyk, Redemption features legendary vocalist Ray Alder of Fates Warning, guitarist Bernie Versailles of Agent Steel, bassist Sean Andrews and drummer Chris Quirartewho is also in the progressive metal band Prymary.
After releasing their eponymously titled debut release in 2003 on Sensory Records (a release which featured guest appearances from Mark Zonder of Fates Warning and Jason Rullo and Michael Romeo from Symphony X), van Dyk made a significang statement with 2005's follow-up, The Fullness of Time, the first CD featuring Alder as a full-time band member and featuring the production of Tommy Newton (UFO, Conception, Helloween). Garnering acclaim from the press and the public, The Fullness of Time cemented Redemption position as an up-and-coming force in progressive metal.
In 2006 the band signed a multi-album worldwide deal with Inside Out Music, and in 2007 released its third CD, The Origins of Ruin, again produced by Newton. After headlining the Headway Festival in Amsterdam, the band embarked on a five-week North American tour as direct support for Dream Theater. Playing for thousands of fans a night and establishing a reputation as a compelling live act in addition to a top studio group, Redemption's momentum is building.

2) Redemption redeems the Goth Rock tradition started by The Sisters of Mercy and Mission UK. Formed in 1996 and surviving many lineup changes, Redemption is driven by the vision of front man and guitarist Miah. Joined by Ashe on guitar and Jesse on bass, the trio is poised to lead the Goth Rock revival.

Nocturnal
Redemption Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When we enter its domain
Will the answers follow
Or will the wind and rain
Predict tomorrow
Or will they combine
Feeding our minds
The violence here
We can end the apathy
Nocturnal
When we enter the darkness
Will our heart lead the way
In the land of thoughtless
Or will you just fan the flames
Or will they combine
And dictate our fears
Feeding our minds
The violence here
We can end the apathy
Nocturnal
We can end the apathy
Nocturnal
The blackest night before the dawn
Nocturnal
The lyrics of Redemption's song Nocturnal speaks about the fear of the unknown that comes with entering unfamiliar territories, whether that be in a literal sense or metaphorical. The song begins with the question, "When we enter its domain, will the answers follow?" suggesting that entering new spaces can come with uncertainty, but can also lead to gaining answers that could not be found before. However, the fear of the unpredictable is present in the following line, "Or will the wind and rain predict tomorrow?" This line draws attention to how we often try to predict what is to come, but events may be out of our control.
The following verse raises questions about the emotional impact of entering unknown territories, asking "Or will they combine and dictate our fears, feeding our minds, the violence here?" This line suggests that when entering into new spaces or situations, there is a risk that our emotions may take over based on our fears, leading to irrational thoughts and actions. The chorus repeats the phrase "We can end the apathy, Nocturnal" suggesting that we have the power to take control of our fears and not become apathetic towards the unknown. The final line "The blackest night before the dawn" offers hope by suggesting that even in the darkest of times, there is still hope for a brighter future.
Line by Line Meaning
When we enter its domain
As we step into an unknown territory
Will the answers follow
Will we be presented with the solutions we seek
Or will the wind and rain
Perhaps, fate or chance may come into play
Predict tomorrow
To determine what lies ahead
Or will they combine
Could these forces work together
And dictate our fears
To exert their control over us
Feeding our minds
To fill our thoughts
The violence here
Perhaps this world of ours is hostile
We can end the apathy
But we can take action and make a difference
Nocturnal
During this time of darkness and uncertainty
When we enter the darkness
As we journey into the unknown
Will our heart lead the way
Will we have the courage and determination to see this through
In the land of thoughtless
In a place where logic seems to be absent
Or will you just fan the flames
Or will we only add to the problems
The blackest night before the dawn
The darkest moment that comes before the light
