Redman's solo career continued throughout the remainder of the decade, with each of his albums selling at least half a million copies. His musical style has remained very consistent, rarely deviating from a combination of Redman's unique braggadocious wit and hard, P-funk-influenced beats. In addition to releasing albums under his own name, he is part of the group Def Squad (along with Keith Murray and Erick Sermon) with whom he released the 1998 album El Nino, and also has formed a close partnership with labelmate Method Man (of the Wu-Tang Clan) with whom he released the 1999 album Blackout!. The long-awaited follow-up, Blackout! 2, apeared in 2009.
He has also collaborated extensively, both with hip-hop artists and with artists from other genres; the long list of artists and groups he has worked with includes Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, The Offspring, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Gorillaz, D'Angelo, Me'shell Ndegeocello, 2Pac, Jodeci, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, KRS One and IAM.
In 2001 Redman co-starred with Method Man in the stoner comedy film How High, which featured the pair playing two marijuana-addled students attempting to survive at Harvard. Method Man and Redman also appear in the Def Jam Vendetta video game series, often as Tag Team partners, and briefly had their own television sitcom, Method & Red, on Fox during the 2004-2005 season.
Redman is also featured on the video game "True Crime: New York City", in which the central character interacts with an undercover street cop based upon the rap star, who also provides the voice for him.

Redman Lyrics

Can I get a hit? Thank you
What you're about to experience is a walk on the Funkadelic side
Who knows better than the Funkadelic devil himself
To all knotty head niggas, bob to this
Come walk with Def Squad on the darkside
Coming to you live and direct without further adieu
I bring to you Redman one more time
So who's that funky nigga that's known to kick the fat shit?
The mirror said "You are, you conceited bastard"
Done by the dogcatcher, dogcatcher, it's the dogfetcher, I betcha
Ah, with the slang
Get you coughed up from the weed it'll bust your brain
The top notch of hip-hop and I'm on the charts
I'm catchin' applause when I rock the microphone from the heart
My style's foul, so look into the eyes of Lorimars
As you can see, I drop funk bars from here to Mars
Still rollin' down the highway wit' my forty between my lap bitch
Crossin' DTW, coming into my lap and
Boy my skills are stacks, I love to do it from the back
My style swarms over ghettos like crack
Blow in any hood and puff a blunt with any nigga
As long as we both got, it don't matter who's gun bigger
But I bet you you can't do that, 'cause the multi-platinums
Can't save your ass on the block, and you're fucked if it ain't pop
The funk is blowin' wattage out your fuckin' trunks
Like peak Puma, I known to give a whole lots of lumps
Props I got, coming through your block nine cocked
My socks, even got three-eighty-nine shots
Don't press it, I hang 'em like them niggas do in Texas
You don't have no heart you chestless, 'cause your heart's on my necklace
I give props to real MC's like KRS-One
Kool G Rap, Buckshot, Busta me and I'm from
The East coast! Where a nigga like you get that fat?
And since you came out gassed, well I'm closin' your gas cap
The creature, from the deeper, ultimate funk freaker
Represent New Jersey, keep your eyes up on the bleacher
A menace like Dennis, I got game like Ennis
I can french-kiss my lyrics, then I run trains with sentence
Lord have mercy! It's too much funk to cope with
Droppin' dope shit after dope shit, we're atrocious
That's from the lungs, that rings from here to kingdom come
And I don't have to be a Special Ed to get dumb!
The opening lyrics of Redman's song "Bobyahed2dis" set the stage for what is about to come as he declares that the listeners are rocking with the best. He then asks for permission to provide them with a hit before introducing them to a walk on the Funkadelic side, which only the Funkadelic devil himself can guide. He calls on all the knotty head niggas to bob their heads to the rhythm as he proceeds to take them on a journey to the darkside with Def Squad, and he introduces himself one more time before starting his verse. Redman is the funky nigga that's known to kick the fat shit, and he's conceited enough to believe it. He boasts of his skills as the topnotch of hip-hop, catching applause when he rocks the microphone from the heart.
Redman's style is foul, and he drops funk bars from here to Mars. He tells us that he's still rolling down the highway with his forty between his lap, and he's blowing wattage out of our trunks with his funk. He gives props to real MCs' like KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Buckshot, and Busta and represents New Jersey. As a menace like Dennis, he's got game like Ennis and can French-kiss his lyrics before running trains with sentence structures. Redman drops dope shit after dope shit, and it can be too much funk to cope with. He declares that he doesn't have to be a Special Ed to get dumb as he rings his lungs from here to kingdom come as the verse ends.
