Redman's solo career continued throughout the remainder of the decade, with each of his albums selling at least half a million copies. His musical style has remained very consistent, rarely deviating from a combination of Redman's unique braggadocious wit and hard, P-funk-influenced beats. In addition to releasing albums under his own name, he is part of the group Def Squad (along with Keith Murray and Erick Sermon) with whom he released the 1998 album El Nino, and also has formed a close partnership with labelmate Method Man (of the Wu-Tang Clan) with whom he released the 1999 album Blackout!. The long-awaited follow-up, Blackout! 2, apeared in 2009.
He has also collaborated extensively, both with hip-hop artists and with artists from other genres; the long list of artists and groups he has worked with includes Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, The Offspring, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Gorillaz, D'Angelo, Me'shell Ndegeocello, 2Pac, Jodeci, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, KRS One and IAM.
In 2001 Redman co-starred with Method Man in the stoner comedy film How High, which featured the pair playing two marijuana-addled students attempting to survive at Harvard. Method Man and Redman also appear in the Def Jam Vendetta video game series, often as Tag Team partners, and briefly had their own television sitcom, Method & Red, on Fox during the 2004-2005 season.
Redman is also featured on the video game "True Crime: New York City", in which the central character interacts with an undercover street cop based upon the rap star, who also provides the voice for him.

Take the shanks out of Shaw Redemption and hold it to your jaw
Climb aboard, jump out the ninety ninth floor
That bitch on the salt box, know when I rain I pour
Shoot up the Mardi Gras with double chrome 44's
Full up plates, 'cause someone I'm ready to take yours
Jungle music got my mind and body stimulatin'
Hyperventilatin', the talk of the town like date raping
Malfunctioning, the SL Board without the EQ
Fuck fuck fuck bitch I'll bust a nut all over that gut
Buck buck buck souffle you lay you then I'm hittin' that clutch
In the black truck, what? Fuck your back up
My dutch be filled with dust when I bust you definitely feel the rapture
Ayo, feel what I feel, see what I see son, break your neck
Secretly blown, talico style Doc, trace the sketch
According to verbal recording hot
Bricks underground detox fuck up farm crops
Yo beautiful, cut the cabbage and sell it as pharmaceuticals
I react, the baddest juvenile bite off his cuticles
I'm stoned, to the bone, flip poems that roam further
I serve the murder then beef it to ham burger
I'm only kidding
Knowin' goddamn well that's hard to spit, fans call me mix tape arsonist
Marvelous, in the hood, everyday, wanna star? Check an astrologist
Fuck fuck fuck bitch I'll bust a nut all over that gut
Buck buck buck souffle you lay you then I'm hittin' that clutch
You know, Papi Chulo with the fucked up grammar
So much Spanish ass, niggas think I own Coco Bana
Shot up Santa, got more tunes than, Hanna Barbera, check it
The clues I left was hard for cops to Etch a Sketch it
Serial killer that tracks pussy in every borough
Kidnap ya, tie ya down, drug ya, "Kiss the Girls"
Klack automatics no matter the pressure the static (klack)
I blow you by two miles, cut my lights and hit the hazards
Fatal, duckin' from pussy police in LeSabre's
Biggest thing since getting earrings pierced in your navel
High, Funk Doc, Roni Size keep the herb twistin'
And now get the Ampegs real hot like jerk chicken
Alright one more time
The lyrics to Redman's "I Got A Seecret" are packed with violent imagery and aggressive wordplay. In the first verse, Redman utilizes metaphors to compare his rhymes to the raw shanks used in the film "The Shawshank Redemption" and threatens to shoot up the Mardi Gras celebration with double chrome 44's. He also mentions hyperventilating to jungle music and being the talk of the town like date raping. The second verse is just as chaotic, with Redman boasting about his sexual prowess and violent tendencies, rapping about kidnapping and drugging women and evading the police. He also refers to himself as an "mixtape arsonist" and name-drops Roni Size and Ampeg amplifiers.
The lyrics to "I Got A Seecret" showcase Redman's unique style, which blend humor, aggression, and clever wordplay. The song is emblematic of the gritty, East Coast hip-hop sound that Redman helped pioneer in the 90s, along with fellow artists like Wu-Tang Clan and Nas. The lyrics may be offensive to some due to their depiction of violence against women and law enforcement, but they are also a reflection of the harsh realities faced by many inner-city residents during the time period.
